Very good for the needed task. Plan on using in the future for shopping trips and family outings.
Worked great for a family move between two traveling vehicles. The privacy factor allowed us to talk without being overridden by other radio operators
The distance is limited. The two vehicles were about a mile apart with two semi-tractor w/trailers between them and the reception was poor and barely understandable. The lead vehicle had to drop back

Communication within the half mile range I have tested was clear and free of interference. These units perform far better than Family Radio Service (FRS). Excellent quality and value. Great for short-range communication between hikers, hunters, fishermen....
