I've spoken with Bissell employees on the side and was told the company is cutting costs wherever they can. I would recommend finding another product that at least supports their products even if they don't build them right.

This is a great carpet cleaner. I was shocked to see how much filth it sucked up from the carpet. I also make it a point to rinse the carpet afterward and the water often is still dirty.
