Dirt Devil -- as cheap as the reputation suggests (updated 1/14/03)

I'm a cheap bastard and I don't apologize for it. Over the past three years, my wife has managed to mangle three -- count 'em, THREE -- vacuum cleaners. I figured perhaps she was getting frustrated and beating the living hell out of them or something...

HEPA filtration; swivel feature is nifty; works pretty darn well

Cheap construction; you just know it won't last for long

To swivel or not to swivel? Dirt Devil MVP Swivel Glide Vacuum

I bought this product vacuum cleaner about 6 months ago and I think that it has been a pretty cleaner for the price that I paid for it.

Does well on carpet

Does NOT do well on bare floors

Will this one die too?

Ok I admit it....I kill vacuums. That's right I am a vacuum murderer. I recently killed my Kenmore and my next victim is the Dirt Devil MVP Swivel Glide. Well, I haven't killed this one YET.

works great/extra long hose

I had filthy floors and did not know it!

By now you all know that we came from England. Sold our house and furniture and arrived here with 3 tea chests and 4 suitcases. Obviously we had to start over and buy everything. That was 13 years ago. We bought a Eureka upright vacuum and it was still...

Really clean carpets and floors

Harder to push than I thought

Just an Okay vacuum

I have owned this particular Dirt Devil vacuum now for almost 2 years. We have only had to fix it one time but there have been numorous times that we would have to mess with it to get it working. It seems to be very testy for some reason.

Lasts forever

Heavy and cumbersome

The Dirt Devil And I Are Doing It

I admit to being something of an impulse buyer when it comes to some items. But regarding most ordinary, even necessary things, I manage to do quite well with the on-its-last-legs-but-still-working ones. For instance, my alarm clock is almost 20 years...

RED, Lots of attachments; strong motor; moderately priced

Cord does not auto-retract; Heavy duty plastic

Dirt Devil MVP is good for me!

I have had a Dirt Devil MVP for over three years and have never had a problem with it. We've never had anything break or get stuck or get clogged, and have only had to do normal maintenance of changing the bags. The on-board attachments are a great...

on-board extensions/attachments, easy to use

none

Dirt Devil MVP = a Pain!

I bought a Dirt Devil MVP a few years ago and it has been nothing but a pain since. It cleans fairly well but could do better. The brush roller seems to get clogged more than past vacuums I've owned. The biggest pain is when I bump it into a wall,...

inexpensive

belt comes off easily, doesn't work too well
