Dyson DC50 Animal

Editors' Note, October 17, 2013: Confusion between models prompted us to revisit this review. We have now factored the collapsible handle and added a point to the design sub rating. We also retested on hardwood with the brush roll engaged, as...

The Dyson DC50 Animal performs well on carpeted surfaces with most types of debris. The canister is easy to empty and the vacuum itself is simple to use.

The DC50 didn't outperform other vacuums the way you'd expect it to for its price.

You can buy a better-performing vacuum for far less money, making the Dyson DC50 a poor value.

Dyson DC50 review

Houses are getting smaller, our time is more precious, and yet we still have to do the vacuum cleaning. Something's wrong we agree, and it is something that Dyson wants to fix with two new vacuum cleaners; the DC50 and the DC47.

Small, powerful, compact, light, gets spiders like no other

Hose attachment is long, making it hard to do close -up work, expensive

As with all Dyson vacuum cleaners, the Dyson DC50 is expensive, like £360 expensive, however it works well and is compact and bijou at the same time.

Dyson's latest upright sweeps the floor with the competition.

Powerful cyclone suction ; Easy to manoeuvre ; Hygienic bagless cleaning

Expensive ; No handle release

Whilst the cord catching on furniture or falling under foot is an issue that affects all cabled cleaners, the cable storage arms on the Dyson DC50 Animal feel slightly too small for comfortable and swift storage of the 7.6m power provider. That said,...

Dyson DC50

The Dyson DC50 is the next evolution of the famous bagless DC01, shrinking two tiers of dirt guzzling cyclones into one compact package that can be easily stored away, without taking up too much of your precious living space. It's the vacuum cleaner...

For £360 you have to really want the best vacuum cleaner on the market. And, while the Dyson DC50 is the Roller of floor suckers, it does require a fair bit of care and attention. It’s a high maintenance piece of gadgetry but it simply wipes the floors...

Best Purchase Ever!

I will never again own a vacuum that is not a Dyson. I have an inside dog that constantly sheds and this product makes it look as though there has never been an animal in my house. Also, I have seen a tremendous improvement with my allergies since...

Good

So far this has lived up to the dyson name. It pulled quite a bit more from our carpet than our last vacuum cleaner. It is small so it doesn't talk up much space.

GOOD SWEEPER

VERY PLEASED SO FAR. HOWEVER, ONE PROBLEM IS THE HOSE TOOL, USED FOR CLEANING IS TOO SHORT. CAN'T REACH CEILING UNLESS YOU PICK UP YHE ENTIRE SWEEPER!This product is or has... An easy to change bag, Enough suction that a single-pass does the job, easy...

CARPET IS CLEANER THAN EVER. WE'VE OWNED AN ORIC FOR 5 YEARS1

CORD IS TOO SHORT

expensive but works well

This thing works great but way expensive. Overall I would say it really wasnt worth the price since there are other vacuums that work just as well and are half the price.
