Hoover MaxExtract 60 Carpet Cleaner, FH50220

There are a number of Hoover carpet cleaners on the market today and some get good ratings from consumers while others do not. The FH50220 is one of the machines that is inspiring most consumers, and while it isn’t perfect it is fairly easy to use and...

- Better built than some of the less expensive Hoover carpet cleaners ; - Generally does a good job on carpet (many folks compare it to a professional cleaning) ; - Only takes about 2-4 hours for the carpet to dry ; - Easy to assemble ; - Easy to clean...

- Some folks have problems getting the brushes to spin ; - Compared to some Bissell cleaners it is heavier, harder to move and less “stylish” ; - Short power cord ; - Fairly average manual ; - Rather loud

Works great

One of the disadvantages of any steam cleaner is constant cleaning, this is no exception you need to spend about 10 minutes cleaning it really well after each use to prevent issues with suction.

This device works great (if you actually handle it with care see cons)

This is made from plastic which is not high impact plastic, if you follow the instructions in the manual and brace the back of the unit firmly with one hand while seating the tanks you will be less likely to break it as others mention.

Save your money...a plastic toy

The ease of cleaning also makes it easily breakable. This lasted 2 days. The front Nozzle clip broke the second time it was removed for cleaning. Most toys are stronger.

Looks nice

Cheap snap together plastic that breaks easily Lasted 2 days.

Dog Owners Best Friend

Owning five dogs my cleaners get more than the usual workload for these units . My last Hoover lasted 2 years , probably would be more like 5 years in normal usage. The Bissell only made it through 5 months.

Picks up more of the water/cleaning solution than any other I have owned. Scrubbers work exceptionally well. Easier dumping , maintenance , and filling than previously owned cleaners.

Water not truly heated , just uses fan exhausted heat dissipation from the motor . Have only owned one brand that actually heated the water well and it was the Bissell ProHeat , not recommended however due to short brush motor life.

Didn't last

I purchased this in August and used it no more than 10 times and the scrubbing brushes no longer spin. This was the second Hoover carpet cleaner we have had and my first was great. I am very disappointed that this one broke so quickly.

Cleans well, when it works

I have boys and dogs so I wash carpets every few months. I've had this Hoover for about a year. It cleans well, when it works. After a couple of months, the small piece in the bottom of the clean water tank fell out. I got a replacement tank. A few...

Worked Great (But Keep Your Receipt)!

This machine cleans as well as any commercial machine we have rented; however, after only few a uses, the tank started leaking so badly that it is now unusable unless we replace it. I am afraid a new tank will do the same thing since it appears to be...

So So machine, many faults not a cost effective solution

It does a ok job of cleaning a rug but the machine itself is not of high quality. Plastic parts keep breaking and in many cases replacements are not available.

Many parts broke

When I first bought this unit, it was great. Within a few months, 2 attachments broke and the clip that holds it upright snapped off so now it won't stand on its own. Very unhappy.

Designed to break

The brush head is designed to sell parts for Hoover. The brushes run off a tiny single plastic stem that breaks under normal use. If you just touch anyting with the clear plastic brush housing it binds the brushes and snaps off the single stem making...
