Neato XV-21

Now, we're taking a look back at the XV-21, a Neato robot vacuum released in 2012 which promises to do a superior job at picking up pet hair thanks to its specially-designed brushroll and filter. At a price of $429.99, it isn't a cheap device, but it's...

With its specialty brushroll, the Neato XV-21 picks up pet hair better than any other robot vacuum we've tested.

Like all Neatos, the XV-21 isn't as feature rich as the average robot vacuum, lacking a remote control and customizable cleaning modes. It also isn't quite as smart a navigator as its newer siblings, the XV Signature Pro and the XV Essential.

The XV-21 is a great all-around robot vacuum and a viable Roomba alternative, but among Neatos, we'll stick with the brainier, similarly priced XV Signature Pro.

Neato XV-21 Pet & Allergy Automatic Vacuum Cleaner

The Neato XV-21 does an excellent job of picking up pet hair?but it's no replacement for a traditional vacuum.

Picks up an astonishing amount of dust and pet hair. Simple to use. Easy to clean. Programmable

Doesn't work well on tight corners. Very loud. Dated design

Once you're fully charged, simply press the Start button and watch the XV-21 get to work. You'll be sure to know it's working, because the XV-21 is loud. The sound it makes upon starting is not dissimilar to that of a plane taking off, albeit at a...

Neato XV-21

The Neato XV-21 is one of the best robot vacuums out there. Neato listened to the needs of their customers and created a product that specializes in capturing pet hair, dander and allergens in an efficient manner. The only thing we would have liked to...

The robot creates a virtual map of the room to avoid large objects and clean the entire space

The filters aren’t HEPA

Homeowners, renters, pet lovers – anyone would benefit from consistent use of this robot vacuum.

awesome product!

The dogs aren't afraid of it at all unlike the kirby.

Does a great job vacuuming. It can go almost anywhere, between chair legs and under the hutch. Our floors have never been cleaner we are running it daily though. It seems to get better at finding it's home base and cleaning some of the area it missed...

It will grab small cords like headphones ( I haven't had it grab a power cord yet) It will occasionally get stuck. If it was a 1/2" shorter it would fit under the stove. If you want it to go under couches you might have to raise them up an inch....

DOA

It wouldn't charge out of the box, giving me a battery error. Contacting Neato support, I initially got a canned response. Then they offered to send me new batteries, which I was OK with. But then they suddenly decided they needed to replace the whole...

No idea since I never had a chance to try it.

This little thing rocks!

Came very nicely boxed. Actually has two battery packs. Instructions were very easy to understand and follow. Had this thing put together in less than 10 minutes. Programming was super easy. I had my doubts, but this thing is great.

Navigates very well. Finds it's way back to the dock to recharge. Resumes cleaning the house after recharging. Has a good size catch tray. Simple user interface. Suction is very good. We have 5 short hair Chihuahua's and a long haired foster terrier...

It is very loud. Sounds like a super charged blow dryer, probably not good to run at night. Good vacuum's are loud vacuums.

so far works great.

After one month of hard daily use, it is still working like a champ. It requires some upkeep and cleaning, but does a good job of cleaning up after our two big hairy dogs.

smartest vacuum on the market. The laser maps out the room, it goes all the way around the outside of the room, then back and forth filling in the rest. wont go over edges. We have two big hairy dogs and we've run this vacuum every day for the last...

just ordered more filters as the one that came with it is almost shot already from hard daily use.

Expensive Stupid Garbage tagged "High Tech"

Programmable schedule

Its performance is from from satisfaction... Well, to much annoyance. for so many times it cannot go back to the dock to recharge itself. For a spot going back and forth so many times, it doesn't vacuum the trash and hair at that spot at all....

Meh +

I expect that many reported error issues are really charging issues. One of the benefits of buying this refurb is the short duration warranty frees you to buy top shelf lithium ions with beaucoup muscle and many more recharge cycles than the nickel...

First, you will anthropomorphize, wheeled box notwithstanding. This little fella careens around the joint and occasionally stops, spins around on his axis getting his bearings and then bounces off a coffee table, just like Uncle Eddie. Unlike Uncle...

When the battery is low, which is often, the list of ailments is long. Zippity sees the charger and when he is running low he heads for it. He does a dance that results in him backing up to it it with his backside shaking like skinny Elvis. If his...
