Review: Turbo.264 HD

By Christopher Breen (macworld.com)

Elgato's Turbo.264 HD speeds up QuickTime-compatible video encoding on slow and fast Macs but trades speed for a measure of quality.

Impressively speeds up compatible-video encoding ; lets you trim video clips before importing ; can gang together multiple clips

Resulting video isn't as good looking as video encoded with other methods ; software a little unstable

The BEST for MAC

By djFremen (newegg.com)

Get it for Apple FCP suite and you won't be sorry. I even use the youtube function with good results.

This is way better than MATROX's COMPRESS HD - simply stated, the best value for H.264 acceleration. Works perfectly with QuickTime Pro and the small compression app is easy to use and modify presets

I would love to see better Apple Compressor implementation. Right now, you cannot also do multipass encodes - its all single pass - which mostly accounts for the speed
