The EyeTV DTT Deluxe terrestrial TV tuner for your Mac is tiny, but is great for watching and recording Freeview TV and comes with software to convert shows for watching on your iPod.
Super-slimline design, while the EyeTV software is both versatile and easy to use
Pricey, will primarily appeal to laptop owners
Elgato claims the EyeTV DTT Deluxe is 'the smallest TV tuner available' and we're not going to argue with that, as it's certainly the smallest tuner we've ever seen.

The Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS offers a combination of TV, Video and Radio features - just make sure you buy the current model.
Good combination of TV, video and radio features
Expensive, some early models still on sale lacked FM tuner
Check on this before you buy it and make sure you get the latest version with the radio tuner built in, as well as version 3.0.1 of EyeTV, which is needed to control the radio features.

The EyeTV Hybrid allows you to record analogue and digital TV signals to your Mac with ease. Shows can then be watched on the Mac, or transferred to an iPod or iPhone.
Versatile software, accepts both analogue and digital TV signals
Expensive
There may be cheaper TV tuners available for the Mac, but the EyeTV Hybrid's range of input options is hard to beat.

Record live TV on your Mac with Elgato's high-end television recorder. We take a look at the superb EyeTV 250.
Record live TV - including Freeview, high-quality hardware encoder to digitise old videos, very powerful and versatile application
Slightly bigger than software-only encoders, limited editing tools
The EyeTV 250 Plus is an excellent device if you need to digitise analogue footage. Version 3 of the EyeTV application is a fantastic and versatile piece of software that lets you enjoy TV in new ways.

With software that supports the Apple Remote Control, the Equinux TubeStick is a compact digital tuner for every current Mac.
Affordable TV tuner, good software for playing internet video
Lack of online program guide limits your ability to schedule recordings
One of the more affordable TV tuners for the Mac, and it's backed up with the MediaCentral software, which can teach Apple's own Front Row a trick or two about playing internet video.

Using QuickTime Pro to prepare video for your iPod or Apple TV is notoriously slow. Add the Elgato Turbo.264 to your Mac and the process becomes rather quicker.
Easy-to-use ; incredibly effective ; speeds up converting video by up to 300 per cent, even on older Macs
No option to convert video to other resolutions for other uses ; unable to rip video from DVD directly ; Some iPod users will bemoan the product is Mac only
If you want to convert video for use with an iPod, PSP or the Apple TV, buy this. If you make films using iMovie or Final Cut, own WMA or DivX films, or plan to digitise old VHS videos into easy-to-store lighweight files, the Turbo.264 is essential. ...

Hot on the heels of Elgato's EyeTV Diversity comes the Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity from TerraTec. Both packages appear to offer exactly the same thing. Both are USB sticks with twin antennas that offer vastly improved reception; both scan for digital ...
Stylish white aerials, suction cups included, coaxial adaptors included
Reception isn't as good as competing EyeTV Diversity model, horrible white-and-orange remote
While the Cinergy DT USB XS Diversity is an admirable system, which offers vastly improved signal strength over single-aerial systems, it just doesn't produce as good a result as the Elgato EyeTV Diversity. It's still perfectly usable, but given the ...
