Every Area in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Tells a Story

More importantly, every level in Tropical Freeze offers something new and creative.

How David Wise Saved Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

The beauty of a David Wise composition is itsinnate ability to seamlessly stitch together your senses. What you see and feel is eerily embodied in his melodies.

Banished

Banished takes the\r\nconcepts of city builders like Dwarf Fortress and Towns and refines them into a\r\nwildly accessible take on the survival city theme.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Review: Money in the Banana Land

If the quality of a platformer can be measured by how long it staves off the obligatory lava level, we're in pretty good shape with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Nintendo's ground-pounding gorilla now sees his home island beset by the vaguely...

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Is a hairy ape the champion Wii U is looking for?

Lovely CGI cartoon graphics ; Lengthy and challenging ; Slick, well-paced and consistently entertaining

Rarely feels inventive or inspired ; Camera in co-op is awful ; Bosses may cause game rage

Donkey Kong’s latest adventure is a slick, good-looking and demanding 2D platformer that works like a trooper to keep you entertained. It’s not that imaginative, inventive, original or quirky, though, and after New Super Mario Bros U or the superb...

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Review

It’s still the old Donkey Kong Country that we’ve known and loved for so long though, and for many players that’s going to be enough. We just wish it felt more like a proper sequel and less like an expansion.

The same Donkey Kong gameplay we’ve always known and loved; Some really great pieces of level design; Speed runs are good fun

Doesn’t feel as fresh as Returns did; Collectables aren’t incentivised well; Occasionally frustrating for the wrong reasons, particularly during boss fights

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze review

Retro Studios delivers a retro delight.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a challenging, well designed and rewarding platformer. It's the perfect start to 2014 for Wii U fans, and has topped Returns in challenge, design, soundtrack and overall fun. Tropical Freeze is unforgiving at...
