Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition

The Development Edition of the Microsoft HoloLens augmented reality headset is a well-executed and tempting look at how we might use computers years in the future.

Surprisingly intuitive and fleshed out for development hardware. Bright, clear holograms. Interesting software selection.

Holograms only appear in a small section of your vision. Uncomfortable after extended periods. Gestures look silly.

The HoloLens still has a way to go before it finds itself in offices, schools, and homes everywhere. There are some big improvements in of view and comfort that must be made before this is a feasible consumer technology. Perhaps in five years, everyone...

Microsoft HoloLens Review: My Experience

Since it was first revealed to a friendly group of reporters in January, HoloLens has enjoyed a great wave of positive comments, but depending on one's own experience with Augmented Reality (AR), e...

The HoloLens concept and current implementation are impressive. Could it be better? Absolutely – and in time, it will be, but I think that the HoloLens team has done a magnificent job.

Hands-on (again) with the Microsoft HoloLens

Yes, the angle of view is still pretty limited. But its other aspects are exciting.

Hands on: Microsoft HoloLens 2 review

Can the Microsoft HoloLens 2 succeed where the original struggled? Microsoft’s HoloLens venture is now a little more than four years old, and while it initially launched with what we thought would be a consumer angle (as well as its application...

Lighter than first-gen Larger field of view Clever new interface

Not bright enough Very expensive

Microsoft's HoloLens 2 may look like it's designed for a very specific purpose, but the possibilities are endless with this mixed reality headset. The HoloLens 2 looks to improve upon the first-generation device in lots of ways, but whether you'll need...

Microsoft HoloLens review

The future of computing? HoloLens sure feels like it

Stellar build quality ; Hologram resolution is impressive ; Spatial sound is excellent ; Hands-free, easy interaction

Short on battery life ; Not easy to fit properly ; Field of view needs improvement ; Still glitchy

HoloLens offers a unique AR experience. It's great build quality and attention to detail are pluses, and the application potential seems limitless. It's now a matter of whether Microsoft can fix some nagging issues, and how much it will cost regular...
