D-Link DCS-5222L Review

D-Link's strategy to get you into its MyDlink IP cameras is quite insidious. First, you buy one of the company's low-cost cams to look at the baby in the crib. Then, you buy one to point out the front door. Pretty soon, you have a 1,000-eyed beast that...

Doesn’t require monthly surcharge to run

Clunky web interface; switches to night mode too easily

Image quality of the DCS-5222L is OK, but also not on par with the Dropcam. In fact, it’s difficult to even get HD out of the D-Link at all remotely. We could only access higher resolutions by going into the camera’s setup screen. Like the two previous...

D-Link DCS-5222L Cloud Camera Review: Call It 'Professional Lite'

If you're looking for a pan/tilt IP camera for security purposes, but you don't need the top-shelf performance and design features that drive the price of more business-centric models like the Axis M5014 beyond five bills, the $250 (as of August 5,...

Relatively inexpensive, considering the resolution ; Local storage on a MicroSD card ; Remote access is easy to set up

Exposed lens and pan/tilt mechanism ; Has three wildly different user interfaces ; Small online video window isn't resizable

Although the DCS-5222L is a good value among IP cameras, the footage it provides isn't as crisp as 720p video should be.

Great Home Security Cam

The configuration options and performance are outstanding for use as a home security camera. I'm using the motion sensor function to alert me via email with JPG images, record HD video to the PNY 32GB micro SD card I have installed, and send a lower...

My only nit-pic is the limited options on the activation of the motion sensor. While you can configure what days of the week for the sensor to be active, it is one dimensional, meaning you limited one set of days and one time window for all selected...

Mixed bag

ok, but not great, resolution for the price range, good range of motion

requires java-enabled browser and won't work natively with browsers on IOS devices. Allegedly, D-Link's software is supposed to make images visible on IOS devices, but I haven't tried. Why should I waste my time with an app when competitors' products...
