Could have been good, but it's not made very well

The WPS button on the camera isn't labeled as such and is instead labeled “RESET”. - Near the end of my testing of this camera, it occurred what use perfectly suits it: a front door or front gate camera. Being alerted by movement means you would know...

Incredibly easy to setup, you’ll be up and running within ten minutes of deciding where to place the camera. Although the camera is not plug and play the set up wizard will guide you through the steps to get it up and running, even if you do the steps...

Build quality is what I would consider to be quite poor; the included Ethernet cable feels cheap, the power cable too feels cheap and wiry, the power adapter itself is made of cheap thin plastic and the camera has its own quality maladies. Chief among...

Save money and go with the DCS-931L

If you do not require night vision, and are just looking for a camera to watch your pets or your child while you are away or in a different room, steer towards the cheaper 931L. If you really need the extra night vision and local recording, and desire...

This camera does support night vision, motion detection, HD resolution, and local storage for recording. However, that is about as far into the PROS that I can go with this device ; As for actual recording, the device did work as advertised and I was...

Having recently reviewed the DCS-931L, I have found that the jump in price for this version to be entirely unjustified. Yes, this HD model offers a few more basic features over the 931L, however, it also sacrifices a few features and it is all around...

Pleasantly Surprised

POSITIVES: Ever since it has been moved closer to the router I've had no problem from hotel or tethered 4GLTE internet connecting and checking on the house while away these past few weeks. Its been rock solid reliable! Very impressed, none of that...

Decent Picture Quality ; Cool Features ; motion detection & email notification ; voice chat / audio (talk to your animals / hear room) ; Access from anywhere with internet proved to work well

Picture Quality - 720p max - No 1080 - grainy anyway ; No Power on off button ; Will not allow manual network setup - must use WPS ; Low Wireless connectivity range ; Bit of a hassle to setup Online ; Why does mine say the date is 4/2/2013 & why can't...

Decent 'Nanny-Cam'

Run the firmware update before you actually start using it. It looks like they're regularly improving the functionality of this model. Get a MicroSD card if you're buying this camera. You need one. If at all possible, connect the camera to Ethernet. It...

Setup software works well, and it's pretty straightforward to get it to work the first time ; Motion sensing allows you to set 'guard areas.' You can set it to watch for motion in a doorway or baby's crib but ignore the ceiling fan or the curtains that...

HD is a stretch. It's average consumer-grade webcam quality. Not bad, but definitely not HD ; Night mode is not that great. It's functional, but not what I would call HD ; Wireless in 720p seems to drop frames, even with a good router. (Ethernet...

Homes & Small Businesses Will Love It!

There are a lot of wireless cameras on the market which run on proprietary 2.4GHz transmitters and receivers, and which pollute the spectrum so badly that WiFi and other 2.4GHz devices can't function properly. I've had some of these horrible products...

This is a very nice product. I’ve had some horrible experiences in the past with wireless IP cameras, and I was apprehensive about trying this one ; I was pleasantly surprised by this camera. It has WiFi connectivity, as well as the ability to be...

Setting up motion events was difficult. First you have to add your “server” (which can be an FTP server, a Windows file share, or a MicroSD card in the camera... go figure as to why they’re calling a MicroSD card a ‘server’). Then you have to add your...

Worked fine for me

I wouldn't listen to the naysayers of this device. You have to remember what this is. It's basically a 720p network-based standalone webcam with surveillance software built-in. The picture is exactly what any 720p webcam I've ever used looks like, and...

Overall I'm very impressed with this camera, not just because the quality is good, but because of all of the features they built into it. It's smaller than I imagined it would be and allows for manual 360 degree movement and rotation. Quick Install...

The included ethernet cable is flat and about 3 feet. This is suitable for setting it up, but not really for running it anywhere. That said, I don't expect D-Link to ship a 100' cable with this. It makes a weird clicking noise when turning on/off. Not...

Needs more work

Perhaps a firmware update will fix this washed out picture.

I've tried almost every setting, but there's nothing High Def about this camera. I'm still experimenting, though. All of my other much less expensive DCS (Dlink) cameras have a much better picture. Lots of white and background picture 'noise

See pros above

Just OK

The camera is ok if you want to check in on things from time to time - but the difficulty it has staying connected to makes me wary of relying on it too heavily. This camera may not be as plug-and-play as they advertise.

The camera can deliver 720P, but sufficient light is necessary for a good color picture. There are motion detection and scheduling functions built in. Web admin interface means you can access from any browser. You can email photo alerts to yourself if...

Only seemed to stay connected to when I gave it a static IP on my local network and kept it hardwired. Wireless so far has been unreliable ; Though it says you can use h264 to stream to mobile devices, if you change the mobile settings away...

Works great with wifi extender

At first I used the wifi and the camera did. It work so well. So I bought a wifi extender and plugged the camera into the extender and it works flawlessly now. No matter where I am, I can keep an eye on my house. This is a great way for me to have...

Quick set up...easy to check up on things

I bought this because we were having work done on our house and we were going to go on vacation. Setup was quick and after downloading the apps from the iTunes Store I could see the work area from my iPad and iPhone. I could access the camera from a...
