Let there be light

Too much light for camera mounted on laptop & personal 'web cam'ing, auto setting is fooled by dark backround. In genral low light from my desktop, it works fine

a total waste of money!

a total waste of money!

Worked marginally for the first month. Light works only at close distance (you have to be 12 from the light source). Then the fire wire connection failed. The light works on it's own, but not in conjunction with the iSight Camera. I've tried it...

iSight Camera light

Not very good. Light intensity on subject not as expected. Subject still appears dark using only Griffin Sightlight during video conferencing. Additional room lighting still needed.

Save your $; Get iGoggles or some other program

Is there ANY product by Griffin that has been designed competently? I doubt it and I doubt that this company will get any of my $$ again. NONE of the Griffin products I've bought are designed well. Some of the products actually work, but if there's a...

Disappointing, throws off color balance

Disappointing, throws off color balance

I had high hopes for this product. After all, every video chat benefits from extra light, right? Unfortunately, this product is only beneficial in absolutely darkness. Its illumination is so weak that it's virtually impossible to detect any difference...

Don't waste your money...buy the program iglasses instead.

Don't waste your money...buy the program iglasses instead.

Bought this because it was supposed to light up your face so people could see you easier using iSight. It doesn't do anything unless you are within a foot of it. It is worthless and should be pulled from the shelves.

STAY FARAWAY --- FAR FAR AWAY!!!!

This light offers no extra light Seriously - you could buy a small desk lamp for a much cheaper price, and it will provide you with MUCH better and more effective lighting THe SightLight does look cool in a way though --- so if you need the cool...

SiteLight

SiteLight

I recently bought a sitelight from my local Apple Store. Its now on its way back to the store because it basically does nothing- there is so little light emitted that you might as well hold a lighter in front of your face- you'd get better results.

Anemic disappointment

The lights are weak LEDs and don't do much at all. Don't waste your money on this one.

Very little light

Very little light

I pre-ordered directly from Griffin. When it shipped, I thought it would be cool to use. It barely lights up my face at all, and when it does, like other reviews have said, its an ugly blue. Save your $$, and buy a $5 desk lamp. Far better...

Product Specifications

With the incredible iSight FireWire camera from Apple you look good. With the SightLight on your iSight you look better. The Griffin SightLight slips right over the iSight, shares its FireWire cable connection and adds a warm glow of light that improves your onscreen iChat appearance.Your desk lamp was not made for a video shoot - SightLight is. SightLight's custom-designed Fresnel-based lens carefully adds a direct but diffused light to the subject directly in front of the camera (you). This added illumination improves skin tone coloration and evens out the shadows caused by inconsistent directional room lighting. The SightLight also allows video chatting in an otherwise dark room! The SightLight has three settings - Off, On and Auto. When set to the Auto setting, it automatically senses the amount of ambient room light and adjusts its output accordingly. More light for darker rooms and less light for brighter environments. Just like iSight, it can be turned off when not in use. The On setting puts the SightLight to full power. The SightLight cleverly shares the incoming FireWire cable with your iSight. You first connect your FireWire cable to the SightLight's female FireWire jack and then connect its external FireWire cable to your iSight as usual. The SightLight has ingeniously split off the FireWire for its own power connection. You bought the best FireWire camera in the world, now get the light that makes it better. When you want to look your best, turn on your SightLight.
