Linksys WVC54GC Wireless Webcam

By adding a network interface to a webcam, you get what can only be described as a surveillance camera. That's the ultimate purpose of this Wi-Fi gadg...

Motion detection, wireless

Image quality

The WVC54GC doesn't work well in poor lighting and the video image is only slightly better than most YouTube material. However, it's relatively cheap and has a reasonable array of security features.

Linksys Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera (WVC54GC)

We love webcams here at Pocket-lint - the chance to talk to those abroad via the Internet etc, but the problem with the webcam is that for the most part it has to be connected to your computer via a wire. In steps the Linksys Compact Wireless-G...

Once set up you don't need a PC, only cable is the power, SMS when motion detected, comes with static IP software, you can always check up on the camera

The best bits (ie the services) will cost you to keep running, it's small, but not spy small

Easy to install, setup and use, the Linksys Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera comes with a lot of extra strings attached. To get the most out of this camera you'll have to be prepared for additional yearly costs. If your find with that, then...

Linksys WVC54G Wireless-G Internet Video Camera

WVC54G offers solid video performance for IP-based video.

Offers dynamic DNS for those on a dynamic IP address. Wirelessly connected.

Power cable doesn't neatly at the base of the camera stand. Power cable exposed.

Linksys's WVC54G offers solid video performance for IP-based video.

good

Bought 8 of these. They are pretty good cameras, certainly better than the cheapo trendnet ones. They definatly do the trick for small business. I think they're overpriced though. Yes Cisco is awesome, and quality is very good, but I think these...

Easy to configure ; POE

Average Camera

I use this camera with Vitamin D recording software and it works great. I am kind of disappointed in how much the camera cost and what I could of gotten out of any other camera out there. Cisco wasn't much help either. I called them up asking about the...

Free Software with Camera records up to 16 cameras ; Good day time camera ; Heavy Duty Design (looks like it could take a beating) ; Hasn't lost the wireless connection at all yet

Free Software motion section sucks ; Can only see in low light situations at night. If it is pitch black it can't see a thing ; IR lens doesn't exist but talked about on the Cisco site

Cisco PVC2300

Management of the camera is fairly easy and straightforward. Works well over a 100M home network. No noticeable congestion or slowdowns ; Only 1 strange 'it just stopped working' incident over the past 3-4 months. Remove power plug/plug it back in and...

Cannot seem to get a good focus with the included manual focus lens. Approx range to target area is 30-to-45 feet, well within range of the camera and lens, but it doesn't get a crisp sharp focus at all. My less expensive mini dv digital camcorder has...

Fantastic!!

I want another one!

This camera is amazing. I am a VERY picky user and this camera's software is the most fully featured camera I've ever used. It has EVERYTHING. The Video is great, the audio from the internal mic is excellent. All of this is integrated into the camera...

I wish it had a slightly longer optical zoom

Works great - Using it in High Profile Customer Installations

Not sure why some others are having issues with web access. Make sure you have the latest .NET support from Microsoft as well as the right Active X controllers.

Camera works great, web based GUI tool is nice integrates will with other systems. Simple IP management scheme and ability to add focal lenses make this a huge plus
