Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP Review and Prices

Logitech's QuickCam Orbit MP appears more like a science-fiction accessory than a webcam. Featuring a 9-inch stand, the Orbit MP can look you in the eye when it's sitting on your desktop, and it often does, thanks to the built-in face-tracking software.

Hopeless, bad color, autofocus does not work, light balance is off and it uses fixed WMV format

After being very excited about being able to upgrade my old 640 x 480 sphere, I am utterly disappointed when I actually used this useless product. First of all, the cam saves in WMV format which gives huge, jittery files and it can not be altered. The...

good lens, decent sound and easy install

bad focus, bad color, poor ourput, bad lighting

Great cam, but no support for MAC

I cannot believe this cam has automated tracking for capturing a person's face, it follows the movement of the person on PC. No support on MAC which is somewhat disappointing.

It works great with Vista and no problem

Software is very buggy and no support for MAC os

Camera good, software beyond buggy

The picture quality is great, but thats moot if in the middle of you video, your voice goes to slow motion, or if you use one of your face effects, the thing freezes. When you're done recording, I push stop recording, I it always just locks up. I have...

Great picture, sound ok

Software crashes 8-10 times

Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP Webcam

I bought this webcam because I thought that it was what I needed. Was a bit pricy but when I got to see the quailty it blew my mind! It says Rightlight™2 technology, mind you it's good righlight but it's not specifically excellent brighness enchancing....

Great Camera!

I think this is a great camera! I've had it for about 9 months now, and it works perfectly for me. I got this camera because I didn't want one that my parents were going to give to me, the QuickCam Web or something like that. I really enjoy the quality...

Wide Viewing Angle, Good Colour Quality

A Little Slow

Flashy look, not impressed with quality

Maybe it just doesn't work well in low-light conditions (though it has a setting that supposedly compensates for this) but the new Orbit MP (the one on the pole that sits about a foot off the table) is very erratic and ineffective in following me...

State-of-the-art look

State-of-the-fart quality

Absolutely the best for YouTubers and chatters

I absolutely love this camera when packaged with Sony Vegas and Divx for YouTube movies. This camera rocks! Clear picture, great software, funny effects to add and even more on the website. My daughter was amazed at how great the picture is. You can...

Clarity of sound, video

A bit of a memory hog

Does the job better than most...

Overall the Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP serves its purpose well. While the digital snapshot function seems to be lacking (who uses a webcam for photos anyway), the overall video quality surpasses most all. I have yet to conference with someone who's...

lowlight, durability, hardware

need working software

I used it with MSN messenger and Skype. It works fine and does what Logitech said about video calling features....except the face tracking is too sensitive that I have to either be still or turn off the feature. But this has a very serious problem that...

great robotics, great video and audio quality

makes the computer unstable, way too sensitive face tracking

Product Specifications

Based on the award-winning design of the original QuickCam Orbit webcam, the highly stylized QuickCam Orbit MP webcam changes how people participate in video communication over the Internet, making it much more natural. A motorized camera head, combined with intelligent face tracking software, allows the camera lens to follow its subject - up and down, or left and right - as that person shifts in a chair or moves freely about the room. The QuickCam Orbit MP webcam can physically turn 128 degrees side to side, and 54 degrees up and down. The QuickCam Orbit lens has an ultra-wide field of view - combined with its ability to mechanically pan and tilt, the webcam can cover 189 horizontal degrees and 102 vertical degrees of a room. With its sensor, the camera can take true 1.3 megapixel still images - great for sending snapshots to friends and family or selling products online. The camera is also certified to support the faster data rates of high-speed USB.
