Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000

It's no stand-in for a high-end webcam, but the $40 Microsoft HD-3000 gets the job done in most situations, and is the perfect low-cost choice for anyone with a desktop PC that wants to get into video chats or basic recording.

Good video quality for the price. Automatic light compensation works well. Easy-to-position rubberized mount.

No 1080p recording. Mount lacks tilt adjustment. Subpar microphone performance. Buggy live effects.

Performance, Audio, and Conclusions You can record 16:9 widescreen video in 720p at up to 30 frames per second and share it via Messenger, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Recording 720p video files was as simple as an on-screen button push to begin...

Microsoft LifeCam HD 3000 Review

In a glaring case of "you get what you pay for," Microsoft offers its $22 LifeCam HD 3000 as a low-cost alternative to built-in cameras. However, the device produces blurry photos and videos, which are only marginally better than those of the absolute...

Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 Review

The Microsoft HD-3000 is a solid web camera that gives you exactly what you pay for. It's not the best camera out there in terms of features or image quality, but for its price it offers decent video and great-sounding audio. If you're not concerned...

The LifeCam produces clear and natural audio.

The video is not quite as sharp as comparable models.

This Webcam is a great option for those looking for an HD option but who don’t necessarily want to go all out. It offers good functionality and simple design at a low price.

Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 review: An HD webcam for the cost-conscious

If your budget is unforgiving, Microsoft's LifeCam HD-3000 ($40) may give you the most bang for the least buck. At less than half the price of the LifeCam Studio, this Skype-certified webcam still delivers HD video. It's not business-call quality, but...

Waste of my money

Before someone wonders, yes I tried using this on multiple systems and different usb ports including 2.0 and 3.0 and 3.1 i am very not so happy with this and i will try to return it to get my money back. This is the last hardware product I will buy...

Good Audio fairly decent image quality simple setup, drivers setup by plug and play, also downloads software automatically lightweight and small form factor so it balances on your monitor nicely Looks nice?

I was so disappointed in this product it isnt even funny. At 720p, the maximum framerate it will capture video is 5-10 frames. It is just ridiculous that Microsoft makes you pay 30 bucks for a terrible product that doesnt live up at all of what it is...

Doesn't work with my PC

This camera worked fine on a PC that had windows 10 installed. I have Windows 7, and it doesn't work. I even called windows support and let them have access to my computer in order to try to get it to work, and they were unable to do so. My friend has...

Great Webcam and mic.

Good quality image and good quality mic. Especially for the price. It is lightweight and easy to set in various locations around your PC with a long enough cord to grab it so you can pan around the room to change the view for those you're chatting with.

I've noticed that when I use software like Skype the image I see of myself when video chatting with friends and family is constantly changing in brightness when I've got a white background behind me. I'm not sure if this is the webcam, MS, or just my...

Works well with good image. Mounts over upper center of monitor easily.

Cable too short to reach desktop computer. Needed a USB extension cable.
