Ashes Cricket 2009

Codemasters have known for a long time that the Ashes started 8th July, so the first disappointment is that they failed to release Ashes Cricket 2009 until 7th August. This would be by the by if they had used that time to hone the graphics and skills...

Ashes Cricket 2009

Catches win matches: caught the cricketing bug?

Stadiums look authentic ; Good multiplayer matches ; Accessible for newbies

No Motion Plus ; No online or specific single-player campaign ; Lacks the shine and depth of a first class sports sim

The cricket sounds that emanate from the Wiimote and easy-to-customise field settings are nice touches. But overall, Ashes Cricket 2009 falls short of the boundary between average sim and comprehensive champion.

Ashes Cricket 2009 Review

TVG adjusts its protective cup as Codemasters bowls a yorker with Ashes Cricket 2009...

Ashes Cricket 2009 is, as the Aussies say, 'a little beauty'. It's by far and away the best cricket game that money can buy, which is good news for fans of the sport as it's the only cricket game being released this Ashes summer. Even though there is a...

Ashes Cricket 2009

Test cricket is a game for purists. Not that it need be stuffy and boring; it is great theatre, great spectacle and great fun. Sadly, it always struggles to make the transition into being a good videogame. Numerous attempts at making 'good' cricket...

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting more than this. The whole package is just lazy and doesn't really owe anything to the game of cricket. Graphically it wouldn't look out of place on the N64, the controls are barely functional...

Ashes Cricket 2009 (Wii)

I very nearly gave this game a score of 0. Seriously, what the heck were they thinking asking Shane Warne to commentate? This nearly unforgivable lapse in judgement aside, there's a decent game of cricket hidden within Ashes Cricket 2009 (AKA "Wii...

Great fun in multiplayer, some good looking visuals

Terrible AI, shaky animation, Warnie

Ashes Cricket 2009 is pretty disappointing on the Wii. However, if you're a die-hard cricket fan, there is still some fun to be had, particularly if you have some likeminded mates around.

Not hitting me for six

I’m a big fan of cricket and was eager to play this game when I saw it The game its self is not bad, going by previous cricket games. I did find the commentary a bit repetitive over one match and it lacks titles/cups to play for But I suppose it is...

I write this feeling so disappointed. I've been waiting to play this game since it was first announced and went close to buying it so many times. I'm so glad I didn't. I started and quickly lost the will to live with the boring training routine. I...
