AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011

Although AVG has flagged a little in the past few years, AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011 breathes some new life into one of the most popular security programs around with a shorter install, better usability and faster scans.

Quicker installation ; Cleaner interface ; Faster "smart scanning ; LinkScanner checks Facebook and MySpace links

Toolbar is still an opt-out feature ; Chat link shield and telephone support only available through paid version ; Performance tests bit slower than the median

"Interferes far too much with the search engines and browsers"

Free

Interferes with search engines and default options, annoying "warnings" that you%u2019re not protected because it doesn't have your credit card details to keep them secure

"Great Program"

Contrary to my peer review, AVG does not lock up....unless you have a dime store processor, with little or no ram. Works great, and has fewer conflicts than Avast.
