Band Hero

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my track pack. The premise behind Band Hero is exactly what is going to get it the most criticism from...

Party play ; Importing option ; Sleek design ; DS connectivity

Limited audience ; Not much different from GH5

Band Hero

Activision tries to capture the female tween market. For the rest of us, this is just painful.

Truckloads of content; great for parties ; DS connectivity and online play ; Compatible with downloadable World Tour and Guitar Hero 5 songs

Pretty awful, generic aesthetic ; Exclusives from Adam Levine of Maroon 5, No Doubt, and Taylor Swift ; Wii instruments are kind of a hassle

It did alright, enough to warrant a sequel. Both Activicion Blizzard and MTV Games have realized it's not smart to release too many music games every year though, and Band Hero was basically just a Top-40 version of Guitar Hero.

A great entry point for a younger crowd, Band Hero is a tamer Top 40 rhythm experience.

Minor alterations to the game make it more accessible, the whole game has received a pop music makeover which is better suited for the PG crowd

Silly edits to songs, owners of Guitar Hero 5 will find Band Hero to be little more than a pop-flavored track pack

If you are looking for a solid entry point into the rhythm game craze or have some youngsters running around that you don't exactly want to expose to some of the more mature music in other rhythm games Band Hero is a solid choice. It's selection of...

Band Hero

There's yet another Guitar Hero game now? Are you kidding?? These things seem to come out more often than Prom Night zits. Didn't I just buy one chock full o' Beatles songs? What? That was Rock Band? Seriously, how is an old guy like me supposed to...

Band Hero loosens the reins on the game play to make the game more crowd friendly. The anything goes style carries over into the song list where everyone you know is bound to find at least one song they have heard and/or like.

Band Hero

Finally, a Guitar Hero for the 'tweens with no taste' market

Extra Wii features ; Party Play mode is slick ; Top 40 song overload

It's GH 5 with pop and pink ; Top 40 song overload ; A bit too easy on Expert

The bottom line is that Band Hero is going to be an awesome game to those who happen to fall neatly within its target demographic. However, the developers missed the opportunity to make Band Hero stand out as a unique offshoot of the main franchise...

Band Hero (Wii)

The music snob in me wants to Fry Band Hero. He wants to roll Activision's new teenybopper twist on Guitar Hero in panko and dip the damn thing in a vat of boiling partially hydrogenated oil. But the music snob in me is kind of a dick. And honestly, he...

Band Hero (Wii Bundle)

Guitar Hero expands its horizons

Band Hero is, in many ways, the first of its type: it's a music game that offers the same ambitious selection of features as the industry blockbusters preceding it, except with a unique focus on top-40/pop musical content and the accommodation of...

Band Hero is an entertaining all-ages rock machine, but it definitely feels like a repeat performer.

We aren't dismissing Band Hero completely. If you haven't played the latest Guitar Hero or are looking for something that all ages of players can get into, it's a respectable choice. However, its mostly flat song list and almost complete lack of...

Band Hero- Wii

At the end of the day I can’t help but feel the similarities between Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5 are more than skin deep. The features and modes are virtually identical and the only major difference being is the focus of the setlists (e.g. pop and...
