Stunt Cars

Arcade racers weren't as fun as you remember.

Lots of solo and multiplayer options ; Plenty of control scheme options

Very basic controls hurt the gameplay ; Vanilla presentation ; Inconsistent sense of speed

I'm surprised you rated it this high. NintendoLife raped this game to the point where I got a free copy of it!

In case you're not aware, Cars for the Wii is based on a movie of the same name by Pixar, in which Lightning McQueen gets lost on his way to the big race and learns a lot about himself etc etc. We're assuming you've seen the movie and therefore have...

Motion steering is actually pretty decent ; Great visuals and audio

Motion in other places isn't so great ; Some greater difficulty would be nice ; More expensive than other versions

If you're a fan of the movie, it's worth at least a rental, and possibly a purchase. However, you might already own it on another system -- if so, you can ignore this version. Small kids might also enjoy it. Otherwise, it's probably not worth your time.

Burn rubber through Radiator Springs in this passable follow-up to the movie

Landscape is fun to explore ; Top-notch presentation ; Surprisingly good minigames

Crummy multiplayer ; Soundtrack gets repetitive ; Mater races even worse than he looks

One last version of Cars has arrived in the console realm, as the series arrives in the form of a launch title for the Nintendo Wii. Unlike the Xbox 360 version and its exclusive content however, this higher-priced version relies on its support of the...

A sandbox game of sorts for children ; One of the best soundtracks and collection of voice talent you'll find in any video game due to its connection with the movie ; Vibrant and appealing graphics on the surface ; Features an ultra-easy mode for young...

Graphic glitches including tearing and even more pop-up than found in the Xbox 360 version, despite lower-res graphics ; Not optimized for the Wii Remote, with both control setups being usable but not ideal ; Simplistic racing and extreme rubber band...

If you have a young one that’s still a Cars fan, and you haven't picked up another version of the game for him or her yet (with the possible exception of the ultra-simple PC version), then this makes a decent purchase when looked at on its own....

Gary Numan's favorite game finally hits the Wii. How driven is this port?

Better than average steering with the Wii Remote; good production values including nice graphics and lots of VO; well-written story

Not much sense of speed; not enough motivation to explore environments; tractor-tipping is horrid

Cars review

Disney Pixar's Cars was a bit of a surprise summer hit. The movie was Cars with faces, personalities and interaction with one another. There are no humans. Leave it to THQ to pick up a licensed property and bring it to every platform...

Overall, Cars is an honorable attempt at converting a children's movie property into a working racing game. The developers had the right ideas in place, they just weren't executed as well as they could have been. The open environment serves little...
