Nintendo Wii - Celebrity Sports Showdown Impressions

It's aptly called Celebrity Sports Showdown because the game allows you to select from a host of different music celebrities and professional athletes, including Keith Urban, Avril Lavigne, Fergie, Nelly Furtado, LeAnn Rimes, Sugar Ray Leonard, Kristi...

Unfortunately, he was hesitant in allowing us to play too many of the mini-games, as several of them are still rough around the edges and still too buggy to show off. But when it ships, expect to see Inner-Tubing, Hurdle Derby (horse race), Racing Aces...

Celebrity Sports Showdown

The Wii has become the console of the mini-game collection with a seemingly never ending supply of them attempting to generate the mass appeal of the original mini-game compilation on the console, Wii Sports. Next up is Celebrity Sports Showdown. The...

When played with friends Celebrity Sports Showdown can actually be quite fun. The problem is of course when you're not playing with friends. As a single-player title it's a rather dull affair and without the ability to play the game online, it's a game...

Celebrity Sports Showdown Review - Wii

celebrity sports showdown review: Celebrity Sports Showdown for Wii will be worth checking out once it hits the bargain bins: it's simple fun, and one of the better mini-game compilations on the market.

Easy to pick up mini-games, Lots of variety

Celebrity caricatures are weak, Very US-centric, Mini-games are shallow

While it's very US-centric, especially in its definition of "celebrity", this is a Wii mini-game compilation that stands out from the pack, as it's surprisingly entertaining. Not a great game by any stretch, but we've certainly played worse.

Celebrity Sports Showdown Wii Review

Celebrity Sports Showdown is a terrible concept for a game. It's essentially a minigame collection, with ten playable famous people. On paper it sounds like nothing more than a quick fire way of making money from the mass market that makes purchases...

Awful concept aside, Celebrity Sports Showdown isn’t a bad game to spend a few hours with from time to time. The growing casual market could find that there’s plenty to enjoy here, but it’s hardly going to appease core gamers who have a diet of more...

Family fun at a cheap price

For the price, it's definitely worth it. All ages can enjoy playing and the games are short allowing everyone to get a turn. Perfect for birthday parties or any type of get together.

There are 12 different games to choose from. Some of my favorites were Dodgeball, Volleyball, Badminton, and Inner-tubing. These games aren't jaw-droppingly great, but they are fun none-the-less

None, as long as you remember that this is a ten dollar game

The good and the poor

These games are written specifically for the Wii, and the uses of the remote/numchuck are inventive and excellent. The graphics are bright and clear and fairly interesting. You can't use Miis. Instead each player has to use one of a selection of...
