Dead Space: Extraction (Wii)

Most on-rails shooters are modeled after their arcade counterparts and deliver nothing but the bare minimum of story required, last shorter than a roll of quarters, and reward often-mindless spray-and-pray tactics. Not so in Dead Space Extraction,...

Dead Space Extraction

Genuine horror finally comes to the Wii. When EA released Dead Space last year it set a new bar for the horror genre. Its blend of immersive storytelling and creepy...

Great narrative ; Impressive visuals ; Genuinely entertaining

Onscreen cursor too large ; Scare factor feels limited

Dead Space: Extraction

There's a reason not many games are ported from Xbox / PS3 to the Wii, the power of everyone's favourite white box simply isn't up to handling the graphics of many PS2 games, never mind those of the newest console generation.

Dead Space: Extraction

Dead Space was a nice click of the refresh button for video game horror. It may have shared the year with Resident Evil 5 and Alone in the Dark, but Dead Space was the only game that scared the crap out of me. They also managed to create a unique...

Excellent storytelling ; Translates the first game to a new genre almost perfectly

New play style is really limiting ; Item collection doesn't add replay value, is just frustrating

That’s the thing about Dead Space, all I need is the story to keep me involved. So far we have gotten two games that are heavy on the science fiction, and overflowing with horror. They have kept the plot lean, and don’t overwhelm us with the minutia...

Dead Space Extraction (Wii) Review

A prequel that feels right at home within the Dead Space universe

EA took a shot at bringing this game to the Wii and I can’t recommend this game enough. It’s an engaging story that sets things up for the original with great narration, excellent graphics and enough of a spook-factor to keep you on your toes. With...

Dead Space: Extraction Review

Altman be praised, yet again.

The baddest arsenal in any rail-shooter; tactical gameplay; psychedelic mindgames; well written dialogue and interesting story

Less talking and more shooting please; melee strikes make the game too easy; constant déjà vu

Dead Space: Extraction is rarely frightening - just a little disturbing - but it manages to invigorate a genre sustained on life-support. Fans won't find much of anything substantially new to digest, so think of Extraction as a fast, psychedelic trip...

Dead Space: Extraction

It's Like?

The Dead Space franchise has made a very successful transition to the Wii. The atmosphere could have been a little creepier, seeing as the on-rail camera and built-in Wii Remote speaker should lend perfectly to a good scare, but there are enough chills...

Review: Dead Space: Extraction

There's a lot about Dead Space that makes sense as a rail shooter. There are a lot of pop-up scares, a lot of atmosphere, and that whole “going crazy” aspect that they can milk. There were just parts of Dead Space that weren't scary because we were...

Dead Space Extraction

On-rail shooters are dead; long live on-rail shooters!

High production values, including excellent voice acting ; Retains the atmosphere and unique combat of the original game ; Includes drop-in/drop-out co-op ; Includes a digital version of the comic

Some glaring glitches ; Co-op can be frustrating if you're not both on the same page ; The main game is pretty short--around 8 hours

I'm not really into shooters but this one does seem kind of interesting for some reason. I might pick it up when it becomes cheap.

Dead Space: Extraction

When I first heard the next game in the blood and gore filled Dead Space series would be a Wii exclusive, I thought the developers from Visceral Games had lost their mind.? Why would you take a mature game, which launched on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC,...

Extraction is one of the finest on-rails shooters you will ever experience on any platform. If you are looking for a more mature Wii title, or if you are a fan of the Dead Space series, this is a game that should be in your library.
