Donkey Kong Jungle Beat [Wii]

I didn't grow up with a Snes, and it wasn't until the N64 that I started to give a damn about Nintendo. It was on that faithful console that I had my first proper introduction to the world of Donkey Kong with Donkey Kong 64. Having missed the country...

Beautiful looking levels, art direction and graphics ; Great variety in levels ; Deep combo system ; High level of replay value ; New controls make things a lot less frustrating

New controls aren't as fun ; Lack of bongo compatibility ; Extremely short length ; Dumbed down grading system

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a terrific game but with its short length and no bongos some might not find much here to like. But everyone else will find a beautifully designed game with a clever addictive point system just a flick of the Wiimote away.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

For those of you who don't know already, I am a huge Donkey Kong fan. Huge. I mean, the biggest there is out there. So, with that being said, I was really excited when I heard about Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat. I must admit that I was a little...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat Review

Joystick Shmoystick

Just being different isnt enough. Different doesnt always equal fun (remember virtual boy?). Thankfully, Jungle Beat is a great game and is not original just for the sake of being original. It continues Nintendos tradition of innovation and...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Donkey Kong one-ups Mario in this incredible old-school platformer.

Addictive platforming ; Refined level design ; Great music ; Beautiful environments

Only sixteen full levels ; Nearly-identical boss fights ; Playing quietly is nigh impossible

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Nintendo's prime primate returns to platforming, but keeps his funky jungle rhythm.

Makes great use of the DK Bongo Controllers; the stages are well designed around the drum controllers

Your arms will definitely get tired; it's too darn short and not terribly deep

New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat- Wii

New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a solid Nintendo title that I would recommend to Donkey Kong fans and newcomers alike. Although the gameplay length was shorter then I envisioned the introduction of Wii centric controls leads to the game...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat on the Wii is a fantastic reappearance of a fantastic original.

Graphically and musically brilliant

Should have included support for the original bongo controller

An excellent remake.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

So what happens when a famous character gets moved in a particular direction and is then dropped by its newfound parents due to unforeseen circumstances? Well, Donkey Kong has been through such a turbulent situation and managed to somehow come out...

As a standalone platform game this might be seen as run-of-the-mill, but with that special Nintendo magical touch it suddenly turns into one of the major highlights on the GameCube and certainly one of the most impressive games of the year so far. With...

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (New Play Control)

Many older games get re-released on new platforms 'as is', but at least with Nintendo they go to the trouble of adapting their Gamecube games for use with the Wii's motion controls. Jungle Beat has been thoroughly overhauled - no more banging your...

Nice New Play controls ; Colourful and easy to get to grips with ; Can replay kingdoms to get higher scores later ; Climb and zig-zag up walls ; Swing on vines ; Hitch rides on whales and birds

Significant, frequent frame dropping ; Only 12 levels ; No sound options, no options of any kind for that matter ; Requires lots of arm pumping ; Only 4 types of bosses and they're all easy to beat ; Single player only

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is a better game to rent than buy, seeing as it's relatively short, there's no two-player option or online modes and shaking the Wii remotes so much makes your arms ache, but it's a fun mixture of 90's platform throwback with...

Brings back fond memories of playing Donkey Kong Country.

For all you people that loved New Super Mario Brothers (Wii) and want some more great 2d platformer action fun for your Wii then Donkey Kong Jungle Beat should be your next stop. You play Donkey Kong using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls. Our hero...

Product Specifications

The highly rated Nintendo GameCube game, created by the same team that developed Super Mario Galaxy, returns with enhanced motion controls and surprises. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers put Donkey Kong's actions right in players' hands. Players use buttons and motion controls to move through the game. When it comes time to box with bosses, players punch with both hands. As Donkey Kong, players brave a jungle adventure by swinging, soaring, swimming and using acrobatic moves. But the goal isn't to run through levels as quickly as possible - the real skill lies in stringing moves together to travel like a daredevil, touching the ground as little as possible. The game's imaginative worlds now have many areas partially redesigned to take full advantage of the Wii controls. Newcomers will enjoy its fantastic jungles, dazzling caverns and wondrous seas, while fans of the original will discover fresh thrills as they take on the challenge of the controls.
