Action/RPG lets Wii and DS players connect and chat online.

Parents need to know that this role-playing game is part of the Crystal Chronicles franchise, a series that developer Square Enix (makers of the popular, adult-themed Final Fantasy games ), has created to appeal to younger audiences. It supports online...

I hereby award Square Enix the Nobel Prize* for its scientific breakthrough in video game connectivity. For the first time, Wii and DS players can quest together in the same world. The only noticeable limitation is the Wii version's playfield only...

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time Game Review–Better Than You'd Expect

‘ll be honest with you, folks–you know I always am, but this time I have to be particularly blunt about what I'm saying.  I always get a little freaked out whenever I hear about an RPG for Nintendo's Wii.  There's just something so very…not right…about...

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time

Given all of the misses lately, you may not remember that Final Fantasy is a top tier franchise. While the numbered sequels never disappoint and there are the occasional spin-off surprises (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII springs to mind), most of the...

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is more than a really long title, it's also a multiplayer game with a whole host of game breaking problems. It is a game with a small cast of unlikeable characters, a boring story, lame locations and did...

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time

I like SquareSoft (now SquareEnix). Apart from the multitude of games that stole hours of a dull Midwestern childhood, they have managed to steal many hours of a dull Midwestern adulthood. I also have been quite keen on Nintendo's new console, but I...

More freedom than previous installment ; Better multiplayer

The Wii version is superfulous as the action is meant for the DS, and the game plays better there

In the end Crystal Chronicles gives you a capable action RPG with multiplayer. It isn’t the epic of its big brother franchise. However, that only holds true for the DS. The Wii version isn't a total waste but it has a limited appeal of allowing a...

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time Review

X-Play reviews the long-winded, handheld title, 'Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time,' to see how the RPG holds up against the others in the series.

Slick online and wireless connectivity, Streamlined story, Loot-filled, puzzle-centric dungeons

Lag kills, Creepy James Carville guy, Pick-up groups can be really uneven

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time

Compelling dungeon-crawling action is constantly rewarding, Local multiplayer is lots of fun, Accessible enough for newcomers, rich enough for veterans.

Dual-screen interface awkwardly tossed onto the Wii, Way too many simple, boring puzzles, Online multiplayer can suffer from lag, Small number of dungeons, AI companions aren't very bright.

The boring puzzles that constantly interrupt the game's momentum are a shame, and a greater variety of dungeons would have made the experience richer, but these aren't enough to defeat the game's better elements altogether. The initial quest may take...
