LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias

One of the best uses of motion control to date. The WiiWare platform has certainly not been as successful as either PSN or XBLA. Sure there are gems here and...

Incredibly gorgeous ; Fantastic motion control ; Great art direction ; Superb level design

It is over way too soon

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias Review

It's winter and summer on the very same day!

Same charm as the original; Awesome presentation; Fun, new seasonal mechanic; Great use of Wii controls

Shoddy hit detection at times

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias

As the nights get longer, the best games get shorter

Beautiful season-themed art ; A grander quest ; Wonderfully charming

New powers aren't as flexible ; Nothing novel to rival slipstreaming ; Still a bit on the short side

Familiarity breeds contempt, but in a few rare cases it breeds a welcoming sense of ease. As the nights grow longer, LostWinds is here to keep you company. For one of them, anyway. There are few better ways to spend a measly few bucks.

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias (WiiWare)

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is the sequel to one of WiiWare's most acclaimed titles to date. As a platformer with a focus on puzzles, Lost Winds: WotM really is a welcome addition to a somewhat lackluster WiiWare lineup. In the game, you are...

Great graphical style ; Engaging puzzles ; Unique gameplay

A little too short ; No sense of "danger

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is a great “in-between games” game. It is undoubtedly one of the best titles I’ve played for WiiWare and can hold it’s own against offerings on other consoles. The gameplay and story are a little more succinct than...

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias (WiiWare) review

When Nintendo's WiiWare service debuted in 2008, its initial launch of original download titles ranked between decent time-killers (such as Final Fantasy: My Life as a King and Defend Your Castle) to forgettable fodder (TV Show King, Blackjack Casino)....

Regardless, the gorgeous visuals and music, along with the finely tuned motion controls and cheap price point make Winter of the Melodias a guaranteed purchase that is anything but a load of hot air.

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias

One of the first releases for the WiiWare download service came from UK outfit Frontier in the form of LostWinds, an innovative take on the standard platform genre. By adding the power of wind into the mix in a clever manner, the development team were...

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias is simply a marvel to play through, with Frontier taking the high quality of the original outing and building upon that strong foundation considerably. Any complaints levelled at the first game are rectified here and...

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias

WiiWare boasts just as large a library of arcade games as XBLA or PSN, but its certainly not viewed in the same light. Critically acclaimed, original downloadable Nintendo titles aren't always easy to find. But perhaps that trend is about to end.

Wonderful use of Nunchuk and Wiimote, stunning graphics, serene environment

Controls can be touchy, too short, save points are too far apart

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias offers a breath of fresh air from the typical "run-n-gun" offerings of many current-gen DLC titles. Terry found the WiiWare sequel to be a beautiful, inventive and charming title that, even with a few small controller...
