Madden NFL 09 All-Play

Fans of EA's sports games are accustomed to the routine at this point: another year, another coat of paint, in the form of updated rosters and a few tweaks to the formula. Obviously, these slightly enhanced annual releases sell well, so why put any...

Madden '09 on the Wii is a pretty solid example of the pros and cons of being a Wii owner, as the game takes huge advantage of the console's unique controller set-up and diverse fan base to offer up a variety of gameplay options and innovative game...

Madden NFL '09 All-Play

The most Blitz-like a Madden game will probably ever be.

All-Play mode works well ; Nice blend of simulation and arcade ; 5-on-5 mode is great for multiplayer

Graphics don't impress ; Motion control still has issues ; Other multiplayer modes are generally poor

Is anybody still playing this game at all? In the NFL Playoff fervor, I've broken it out on occasion and it's still a good time. It held up a lot better than I expected.

Madden NFL 09 All-Play (Wii)

Twenty years of Madden? Twenty years since Trip Hawkins and John Madden hammered out the idea on a train to Oakland, and Electronic Arts made skinny fans feel like a little bit like self-confident, football-playing Masters of the Universe? Once Madden...

Madden NFL 09 All-Play

The Wii gets a version of Madden that combines an old-school football feel with fun motion-driven controls.

Wii controls work very well; online play is fast and fun; wide array of gameplay modes

NFL Superstar and Franchise modes feel stale; unimpressive visuals; no bullet passes online

Madden NFL 09

Reaching back out to the masses, one arms-flailing touchdown at a time

Better controls this year ; More Wii-style personality ; Online play again

2001-era graphics ; Kicking mechanics ; Standard games too long

Even so, Madden NFL 09 All Play is blazing an important trail to reintroduce lost football fans to the franchise. It’s an undeniably fun experience that will please many in its target audience, and even includes roster updates and online play. Not to...

Madden NFL 09: All-Play

The most recognizable franchise in video game sports returns for a 20th season of gridiron action in Madden NFL 09. The constant tweaking of the series continues as well, with the

3 of 5 It's been the end of so many eras in US sports this year; Barry Bonds retired, Brett Favre retired, the New York Yankees look like losing out on the post season for the first time in years and Brett Favre...

Great Graphics ; Great Gameplay

Still Some AI Problems ; Camera Angles Could Be Better

The test is fairly repetitive, but if you persevere (and I recommend you do) you end up with a final Madden IQ score for individual skills like Rush Offence, Rush Defence, Pass Offence and Pass Defence. This is then taken into the game giving you a...

Madden NFL 09 All-Play

This year, EA has introduced the brand new All-Play on the Wii for all their sports games in order to bring casual gamers and newcomers a new and original way to experience sports games on Nintendo's console. After witnessing NCAA Football 09's sub-par...

All-Play is great and fun ; Gameplay mechanics are good and very responsive ; Calling Your Shots option is cool ; Player models and stadium rendering have been improved ; Soundtrack and environmental effects are okay ; Effects coming from Wii Remote ;...

Commentary was weaker than XB360 and PS3 versions ; Crowds still need improvement ; Party mode doesn't shine at all ; Celebrating with the Wii Remote is exhausting after a while

Madden 08 players upgrading to this new version will be pleased to see some new additions and interesting tweaks to the game. The first one is this fun mode called “Call your Shots”, which gives you the option to create your own plays on the fly. By...
