NBA Jam (Wii)

Oftentimes, when developers resurrect classic games for the modern era, they overhaul the core experience with enough bells and whistles to make it stand up to current releases. This is not the case in NBA Jam. The gameplay of this two-on-two...

Game Modes

Fun, fun, fun...with no rules. And players have big heads

No online multiplayer. Game can get monotonous in single player mode

Scoring three in a row puts that player in fire mode. Once in fire mode, the outrageous dunks begin. Players leap like Superman towards the roof of the stadium before descending like an Olympic diver performing a triple somersault in the pike...

Boomshakalaka! The classic baller is back.

Fantastic update to classic game ; Audio and video presentation is top notch, yet quaintly retro ; Overwhelming amount of content

No online multiplayer ; Baffling controller and interface quirks ; Single-player mode gets repetitive after a while

I agree, the game definitely suffers because of the strange shortcomings in the interface.

To those from my generation, NBA Jam is nothing short of a cultural landmark. When it was in the arcades, it ate up all of your quarters, when it came to consoles, it kept us up all night. Then, we grew up. We favored full-on simulations with complex...

Part of NBA Jam's legacy is built on its use of cheats, and the re-release is no different. There's your effect codes like big head mode, but key here is the ability to unlock a ton of hidden characters. Feeling political? You can unlock President...

Arcade classics are a difficult thing to reintroduce to the mass market; the challenge plays out like a balancing act of nostalgia and innovation. NBA Jam honors its source material with the utmost amount of efficiency without straying far from the...

NBA Jam is an excellent way to spend an evening or two, but at the end of the day, it's still just a prettier iteration of its former self that fails to add any mechanical polish to the formula. Additional single player modes are always welcome, but...

NBA Jam Coming to an Xbox near you!

With the news of NBA Elite being postponed, I know myself and others started to wonder, what was going to happen to the NBA Jam arcade title that was going to come free with it

The Xbox360 and PS3 version lacked content thats available on the Wii – so now its a case of trying to fit all that content in, instead of making it DLC

Review: NBA JAM (Nintendo Wii)

The backgrounds are sparse. It's basically a low key generic basketball court. You have the same “on fire” animations and some great dunk animations –many of which are in no way, shape or form, possible in real life, which only adds to the zany fun. ...

NBA Jam may not be as good as the original arcade classic, but it’s still a fun game. However, I can’t recommend it if you own a 360 or PS3 as you should instead wait a few weeks for the hastily put together version for those consoles since it has...

There are defining installments in game series. With most, there's a rise to greatness and a fall from grace. Somewhere in the middle is the game's peak, where the right elements fell together in the best combination. For Midway's basketball games,...
