When Clover Studios first put out Okami for the PS2, many gamers believed that its "Celestial Brush" mechanic would make the game a perfect fit for Nintendo's then-new motion-controlled Wii system. It may have taken two years, but Ready At Dawn finally...

To begin with, I never got around to playing Okami when it originally released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006.? When I heard the game had come out for the Wii with updated controls and enhanced graphics, I decided to check it out.? For this reason I...

Overall Summary: Okami's gorgeous graphics and unique look is enough to draw anyone in, but only true adventurers need apply.

Stunningly beautiful and amazingly engaging.

Engaging story steeped in Japanese Mythology ; Beautiful art direction and graphics ; Lovely music and sound ; Zelda-esque gameplay

Controls can be finicky at times ; Could use some more varied bosses

But it was FUN to use! And it turned people into snowmen!

It's a sad truth that many abstract games, while offering tons of fun and a welcome break from the norm, usually sell poorly. Okami is no exception; it sold pitiful amounts when it was first released on the PS2 in 2006.

While Wii ports have been greeted with almost universal scorn, there are a few that bring strand-out games that may have been overlooked in the last generation's waning days. Okami is one such title, that actually feels more at home in the Wii's line...

Stylistic design still looks fantastic ; Great narrative ; A wonderful world to get lost in

Some of the Celestial Brush controls are finicky ; Still a port, so if you've played it once, no need to re-up unless you really want to try the Wii Controlled Amaterasu

In the end this is a great game that was fun the first time around, if you missed out or want another experience, pick this up.

For a world built on expectations, the consequences for failing to meet them are surprisingly diverse. For example, if a movie flops in theaters, there's always the video release to try and recoup losses. But, if it's a game...well, there's supposedly...

At last, a third-party Zelda ; Great art style ; Tons to do outside of the story

Worthless Nunchuk dodge ; Reduced paper filter ; Could’ve used voice acting

Whether it’s on the PlayStation 2 or Nintendo Wii, Okami is a game that everyone should at least try. The trade-off for each is pretty clear: on the original console, you get to see and play the game as it was meant to be, but here you’ll get improved...

Okami - Wii review at Thunderbolt Games

The world is dying. The trees are nothing more than wooden skeletons. The grass has shriveled away and scattered on the wind. Streams, rivers, entire oceans are drying up. The sky is no longer blue, but a pitch-black mess of toxic clouds. The sun is...

From the first time you see Amaterasu the white wolf shoot across a green mountainside, with colorful flowers bursting up from her footsteps, you know "Okami" is not your usual video game. This revelation will repeat itself many more times as you...

And in the End...It's the rare game that can be ported to a new system two years after its original release, nearly pixel for pixel, and yet still feel like a fresh new experience, but "Okami" is just such a game, thanks to an excellent implementation...

Hell Bronze Award!

Expert review by: Chris Matel (

"Okami is the perfect addition to the Wii's overly-casual library..."

Beautiful, artistic visuals ; Improved Celestial Brush mechanic ; Great length, with plenty to do

No new content ; Not all of the brush techniques work flawlessly ; Some nitpicky technical issues
