Pandora's Tower Review

Pandora's Tower is an exciting, chain-swinging race against time to save your beloved from a beastly fate.

The chain weapon makes for some great brawling ; Time-management mechanic is handled wonderfully ; An endearing, emotive love story ; Some terrific boss fights

Fixed camera angles can be awkward ; Enemies lack variety

It's pretty handy against monsters as well. Using the chain, you can rip weapons and armor from enemies, pick up an enemy and slam it, or even spin an enemy around to send it flying. It can be used to restrict an enemy's arms, to pull it off its feet,...

Is this the best way to farewell the Wii?

Pandora’s Tower is far from perfect, but ranks highly among other core titles which have seen release as the Wii’s life cycle comes to an end. Sub-par visuals and a few restrictions on exploration make progressing through the game hard to stomach at...

What do you do when Beauty is the Beast? And is the cure worse than the disease?

That said, the developing relationship between Aeron and Elena is a truly enjoyable one, and it is interesting to watch how the flashbacks Elena gets after eating the Master flesh start to shed light on the mystery of why she was cursed in the first...

Nintendo of Europe may well have overlooked intriguing Wii games such as Captain Rainbow, Takt of Magic, Zangeki no Reginleiv and Fatal Frame: Tsuki Hami Kamen, but in the past six or so months it has attempted to redeem itself with an onslaught of...

Small narrative syndrome.

Good use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Race against the clock can be challenging at times

Overall repetition. Lack of originality and depth. Less than average voice acting

Repetitive

Pandora's Tower- Wii

It's an odd fusion of action elements, RPG progression and relationship nurturing and while on paper that seems like it should end pretty terribly, the truth is that there are few better fits for the gap left after Skyward Sword's completion.

Pandora's Tower- Wii

Even given the irresistible pull of the narrative, Pandora's Tower isn't quite up to the standard of other recent Wii RPGs. Yet if at times it seems ugly, confused and repetitive, at others it's creative, gripping and wonderfully atmospheric....

Pandora's Tower- Wii

It's somewhat poetic that after five years of hit-and-miss waggling, we're only just starting to see core games that implement motion controls in seamless ways rather than being smothered by them, and this is exactly what Pandora's Tower achieves.

Pandora's Tower- Wii

Pandora's Tower is well worth playing for its brilliant and inventive boss battles, arrestingly emotive moments of flesh-guzzling and for its stunning, amazingly varied scenery, but beware the tedious and generic hack-and-slash nature of the moments in...
