Sid Meier's Pirates!

En garde

Open world with ability to do as you please in the Caribbean. Wii exclusive mini-games are fun additions

Mini-games can get repetitive. Manual was a waste of paper, with no useful info about the game

Upon completing the Ship Battle mini-game, if the opposing captain has not surrendered to your forces, you will enter into a Sword fighting duel. Before playing the game, I was expecting something like the sword-fighting used in Wii Sports Resort and...

Sid Meier's Pirates! Review

Control issues and other frustrations make this a very disappointing version of the classic game of adventure on the high seas.

Impressive freedom to play how you want to play ; Wii-exclusive bombardment and lock-picking minigames are good additions ; Ship combat is tactical and enjoyable

Minigames get old quickly ; Unresponsive controls hamper dancing and swordfighting minigames ; Some grainy visuals and performance issues ; Flimsy manual and poor tutorial for a game with so much complexity

Sid Meier’s Pirates! Wii Review

I was happy when I was asked to review this game. I have grown up as a fan of pirates. In fact I have been a fan of all of Sid Meier's games. I first played pirates on the Commodore 64. Pirates was first released in 1987. The game has evolved quite a...

Still fun after all these years ; Hours of gameplay ; Non-Linear storyline

Controls are very basic and not well implemented ; Video is choppy and not completed well in places
