Stop, Speed Racer! Stop! There is a commonly known fact that games based on movies are usually not very good. Speed Racer is no exception. You can almost feel the...

Two player can be fun ; Lots of unlockable features ; Has the basic racing game mechanics

Speed Racer Review

Not your everyday movie tie-in -- Speed Racer is a surprising success.

It is unfortunate that the movie performed as poorly as it did, as the game is one of the better arcade-style racing games that have come out in a long time. The game has echoes of F-zero in its style and use of car-fu, essentially beating Nintendo...

Speed Racer

The Wachowski Brothers have recently remade the classic anime series Speed Racer as a feature film, to critical disdain. However like all big budget summer movies, there is a blitz of marketing that is going to come out way regardless of how successful...

Um, uh, er

Terrible mechanics are so devoid of skill you'd be better of just twitching around every time you pass a rival ; Lacks any staying power past pressing power

This is just terrible, pay the extra 10 or 15 bucks and get Mario Kart if you want Wii Racing.

Speed Racer Wii Review

So here I am sat in front of my TV which is currently adorned with the wailings of Sidhe Interactive and WB Games' latest movie/video game offering of Speed Racer. Now the game itself takes place 1 year after the events of the movie, which I have not...

Easy to pick up and play ; Cheap price point ; Kids will probably enjoy it

Lack of online capability ; Music can be annoying

Speed Racer

This is one of the better movie spin-off games we have seen on the DS in a while. Great game play that will appeal to speed freaks, however the car combat aspects are under done and disappoint when compared to releases of this game on other platforms....

Some great looking graphics that deliver a real sense of speed. The controls are easy to pick up, and the game is fun to play

Tutorial is not really a tutorial at all. The racing elements of the game try to make it to the front seat which should be occupied by combat instead

High octane action!

Speed Racer review

It's a strange feat, no doubt, to create a narrativeless videogame upon the back of a plot-laden television show-turned-movie. Like a child more interested in the box than the toy that came in it, the producers of Speed Racer have kept the superficial...

Extreme speeds combine with awesome car-fu smash-ups to make Speed Racer not just a good movie tie-in but a thoughtful and original racing game.

The annual Hollywood silly season has started, which means that the videogame release schedule will be crammed with official tie-ins of extremely dubious quality for the next two or three months. Typically, this yearly gamut of videogame-based movie...

Speed Racer

Speed Racer is a movie that assaults your eyes with colour and the game does its best to bring that to gamers.

Easy to control your car ; Fast

Lacking content ; No story

Anything for adults?

Speed Racer

Seeing a game that's only being released on Wii for the current generation has the power to generate different responses. If it's being made by Nintendo, usually there will be anticipation and excitement, but without that, there is an air of worry and...

Quite a bit to unlock

Generic racing action ; Horrible rubber-band AI ; Doesn't tell a story

Ultimately, it's games like Speed Racer which are the reason why so many "hardcore" gamers deride and despise the Wii. A cheap and nasty PS2 game with some tacked-on motion controls, and equally tacked on license, it's destined to feature in "Games you...
