Game Review: Super Mario Galaxy

Why does the galaxy hate Mario? Why is it that no one ever hands him a star directly but only after he completes their demeaning tasks then they throw it a few feet away from him, making him crawl, skulk to the shiny star and pick it up like a slave...

The game begins with a celebration in the Mushroom Kingdom as a comet passes over, raining down stars and stardust. During this celebration, the evil King Bowser attacks the kingdom to run away with Princess Peach (as usual!). As Mario dashes to the...

Review: Super Mario Galaxy

I deem Galaxy this not just because of the qualities listed above but also because Galaxy learns from the mistakes of its predecessor, Super Mario Sunshine. After years of mediocre platformers aping Mario 64's general formula, Shigeru Miyamoto's...

Super Mario Galaxy

The stellar presentation and fantastic level designs combine to make Super Mario Galaxy the Wii's game to beat and one of Mario's greatest adventures yet.

Some of the best level designs of any 3D platformer ; Beautiful, colourful graphics ; Controls work just about flawlessly in nearly every situation ; Soundtrack is a delight ; Lots of stages and tons of stars to find and collect

A couple of Mario's special suits can be frustrating to use ; Minimal amount of story doesn't tie everything together especially well

Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii will be available on the 29th of November, 2007

When Nintendo get off their backsides every six months and finally deliver us a game, by general rule of thumb, it's going to be one of the year's greatest games. Last year we experienced Metroid Prime 3 and rounded off the year with Super Mario...

Super Mario Galaxy is the current pinnacle of platforming game design excellence. You only have to look at other recent titles in the genre, like Crash of the Titans, to see how high you have to go before you reach the galaxy. Anything below a 10 just...
