Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam Review

More Tony Hawk's on the PS2 as Downhill Jam hops over to Sony's high-achieving system from the Nintendo consoles...

Fun simplistic gameplay ; Insane airs and combos ; Funny characters

Not for hardcore skating fans ; Unchallenging gameplay ; Yet another Tony Hawk's game

Tony Hawk's purists may be put off by more of an arcade style and the wacky racing dynamic to Downhill Jam, but the game still has its strengths and provides a simplistic thrill for skating fans.

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam (Wii)

SYNOPSIS: Think of Downhill Jam as a pure race game, pitting you as either Tony Hawk, or one of several invented people put into the game (nerd, skater guy, super hot chick, etc). Holding the wii-mote sideways you use the innovative controller to...

The good of Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam for Wii is that the game is a lot of fun to play with friends locally, especially if you can find a total of 4 players racing against each other. The graphics aren't so great, but the soundtrack is the perfect blend...

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

Hey, you got your SSX in my skateboarding game!

Control is exciting and smooth ; Slalom races are fun and challenging

Levels are way too short ; Rubber band AI is out of control ; Everything is too simple

I think I agree with Bloodworth, the game is quite a bit of fun, and for me would also fall in the 7.5 range.

Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam

Tony Hawk is awesome! The Wii is awesome! Obviously the combination of the two of them should be amazing, but such is not the case. I was excited for the title, as I enjoyed Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam on the DS, and while there's some level of connection...

Solid graphics ; Character interviews are amusing ; Steal the Head is an amusing multiplayer mode

The controls are sloppy and weak ; Disjointed level hopping feels annoying ; Relatively low replay value

It may not be the best TH game, but it's still a TH game, and ignoring GameCube versions, it's the only TH you'll get on the Wii for now. Definitely rent it at first. That may be enough. Even if you're a hardcore fan, rent it first.

Downhill Jam provides lots of fun, but not $49.99 worth.

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

Toys For Bob and Activision score an SSX-style hit on Wii.

Plays just like EA's SSX series; very fast; tons of different paths; controls work really well; great music

Might be too much of a departure from the Tony Hawk license for some; initial learning curve can be steep

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

Unless you're in need of the most precocious graphical upgrades in your Tony Hawk library this fall, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam shouldn't bother you much, if at all. Paling in comparison to its next-gen cousin, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Downhill Jam should...

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam Wii Review

An open game world and potential for massive combos are things that the Tony Hawk's series has become synonymous for, so it comes as quite a shock to learn that Downhill Jam tramples all over tradition and bursts out of its new chrysalis as a racing...

Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam is a great early title for the Wii that proves once again that using the remote can certainly be a lot of fun. We liked it so much that we hope the Downhill Jam name will be turned into a series of games, as yes it may not be...
