We Ski & Snowboard

Not quite a sequel, but worthy of a second look. When Nintendo released its balance board peripheral last year everyone thought it would see loads of support from third-party developers....

Relaxing experience ; Two new venues ; Controls are still solid

Trick system feels tedious ; Not goal-oriented ; Snowboarding and skiing feel very similar

We Ski & Snowboard

Though personally, I just ski.

We Ski & Snowboard is inarguably superior to its predecessor, with two larger and more interesting areas to explore and a number of gameplay-centric refinements. But if you already own We Ski, it's hard to recommend this as a follow-up purchase. There...

Family Ski & Snowboard

Replicating the whole experience from boarding to mingling on ski lifts

Natural and intuitive controls ; Lots of Mii customization ; Plenty of quests and challenges

Controls should be more responsive ; Tedious missions ; Mountains a bit too small

That said, using both the Wiimote and the Balance Board to control your skier or ‘boarder feels natural and intuitive (although occasionally the controls aren’t as responsive as we’d like), and it’s as fluffy and casual as we now expect from the Wii....

Released last year, We Ski was the first third-party game to make usage of the Balance Board and introduced a new way to play ski games, even if they were pretty much non-existent. Now, almost a year after, Namco Bandai released a new version of We Ski...

Improved controls (Nunchuk and Balance board) ; Easy to play target to younger and un-experienced players ; Nice environmental visuals and character renderings ; Wii integration, nice character customization ; Good list of challenges to complete

Poor audio work, character chatter is annoying ; Snowboards feel like a cheap addition ; Overall the game is "almost" the same as last years' version

We Ski & Snowboarding doesn’t shine much in this department but does deliver something solid. The character cartoony renderings look nice, the slopes are well designed and the day/night visuals are surprisingly good but nothing is groundbreaking or...

We Ski & Snowboard

This accessible snow-sports game doesn't improve on its predecessor as meaningfully as it might have, but is a lot of fun nonetheless.

Excellent Mii integration ; Loads of varied challenges to complete ; Great, uncomplicated controls ; Fun unlockables

Limited balance-board support ; Lackluster audio ; Snowboards add nothing new to gameplay
