Alan Wake`s American Nightmare

Last month brought us a double dose of Alan Wake with the original game's long awaited port to PC, and a brand new adventure with Alan Wake's American Nightmare. What's most exciting about American Nightmare, other than the new story, is the way it's...

Basically, you start off in a map that has various tools and weapons scattered around it, and a timer that immediately begins counting down. Your goal is to survive the full ten minutes while racking up the largest score possible in the short amount of...

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare- PC

Alan Wake is one of those rare games that makes you want to show it off to non-gaming friends and family as a beaming example of the medium. Now, Remedy has released Alan Wake's American Nightmare, a $15 chunk of standalone DLC. It expands the combat,...

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is mechanically a better Alan Wake. The only thing holding it back is its brevity (six hours for me), but it’s highly enjoyable, especially if you loved the first game. Oh, and there’s a new song from Old Gods of Asgard...

Alan Wake's American Nightmare Review

Picture this, if you will, gentle reader; a man plunged into a twisted nightmare of his own design. Stalked by otherworldly horrors and mocked by his dark twin, the embodiment of the worst in him, the man must unlock the secrets of enlightenment or be...

It’s a coin toss between Mr. Scratch’s smug smile at the end of his ‘tools of the trade’ video to Alan, or seeing The Taken cower from a flare’s light and Alan’s mighty plaid shirt.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare Review

Wake's journey gets less creepy and more shooty in the fun but flawed American Nightmare.

Fresh settings are fun to explore ; Awesome exchanges between Wake and Mr Scratch ; Arena survival mode is a nice addition

Repetitive sections drag on ; Abundance of ammo makes it too easy

Alan Wake's American Nightmare PC Review

Remedy Entertainment takes a departure from Alan Wake to make American Nightmare, an action-survival spin-off leagues below its predecessor.

Alan Wake's release on the PC met with critical acclaim, or at least more so than its initial debut on the Xbox 360. In fact, Alan Wake's PC release almost eclipsed the launch of spin-off title Alan Wake's American Nightmare, also initially exclusive...

Alan Wake's American Nightmare

The release of Alan Wake in 2010 offered gamers a unique experience that fused thrilling gameplay with a deep and mysterious narrative that incorporated various paranormal elements. Following the game's release, The Signal and The Writer add-on...

Both veterans and newcomers to Alan Wake will discover a wealth of entertaining and thrilling content in American Nightmare. With an engrossing narrative and hair-raising arcade mode, there is a great deal of content for the game's low asking price and...

Alan Wake's American Nightmare

American Nightmare features cleaned up animations and a more crisp visual style than its predecessor, but don't go in expecting a ton of change here. This is the same engine we've seen before, but thankfully, it all still works very well.

The collector in me would also love to have a cheat to find all of the manuscript pages.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare

Alan Wake has had a rough life. First he gets a serious case of writer's block, then he has to travel to a no name town, then he gets taken over

Alan Wake is at its best when it is tense yet manageable. Those moments when you know you have little ammo but can strategically take out a group of baddies with the right timing are absolutely incredible. Sadly those moments don’t pop up often...

Alan Wake's American Nightmare

A good story can go a long way to endear me to a game. While it took a while to pull me in, Remedy eventually spins an engrossing yarn, pairs it with fun combat and a fantastic bad guy, and hopes you'll stick around for the ride. It has got its fair...

Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare started off development as an action-focused aside for the Alan Wake series. While its wave-based survival mode is still a part of the package, Remedy fortunately came to their senses and realised fans were clamouring for...

And that’s the main reason for playing Alan Wake’s American Nightmare: its narrative. If you’ve never played its predecessor then you’ll be lost coming in. This is a game for the fans, featuring an appreciative amount of exposition even if it’s fairly...
