Alan Wake The Writer Review:

Alan Wake The Writer Review Xbox 360. Following on from The Signal, the second downloadable episode of the Alan Wake story wraps up some loose ends and unleashes what can only be described as a living roller coaster ride through the fantastical...

The Writer, is an interesting addition to the game and one that fans will no doubt lap up, however, if you're not overly bothered then waiting out for a price reduction might be more worthwhile. As it stands, other than merely providing some extra...

Alan Wake: The Writer Review for the XBOX360

Wake up and smell the ashes.

Extremely engaging; Smart reuse of environments from the original; Great self-referential dialogue

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

Offering up a different, but complementary, experience to The Signal, The Writer is an excellent way to cap off the first "season" of Alan Wake. For those who have played through the main game as well as The Signal, it's also something of a must-have.

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

It's much better than The Signal. Depending on the tastes of the critic, The Writer might not review so favourably. But as a fan of Alan Wake, hopefully speaking to other fans of Alan Wake I can tell you that The Writer is immensely enjoyable.

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

The final DLC for Alan Wake is a compelling look into the desperation of a man teetering on the brink of insanity and it uses the game's crushing atmosphere to greater effect than ever before. It also hints that the game has great potential in both its...

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

This cynical refusal to respect the concept of a plot arc, effectively churning something out for as long as we'll tune in, just breeds anger and contempt. We could see Alan Wake treading just that path, and The Writer's dissatisfying conclusion keeps...

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

The Writer a must-play for anybody that downloaded The Signal as it wraps up the mini-story arc. In total, the two add-ons offer a great addendum to the main game, turning the final punctuation from a question mark to a period. Though The Writer may be...

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

Those of us who played the expansions didn't get a leg up on the disc-only folk. This appears to have been Remedy's goal, after all. From the outset, they've dulled the bold strokes of the Alan Wake concept in a desperation to ensure that everyone got...

Alan Wake: The Writer- Xbox 360

The Writer is a clear improvement on the previous downloadable add-on, The Signal, in almost every way. The level design blends well with the fiction and restores the feeling of surprise that you don't often find in an epilogue. And though this episode...

Alan Wake: The Writer

Well paced, peppered with memorable set pieces, some narrative bombshells and just the right amount of combat to stitch everything together.

Several memorable moments ; Just the right amount of combat

You'll need to concentrate to follow the plot ; Over in less than two hours

I'd like to describe the fight preceding the last cutscene, but for fear of spoilers I'll simply say this: the last moments of gameplay are fantastic; a whole lot better than fighting inanimate objects in The Signal (this, incidentally, is kept to a...
