Apache: Air Assault (Xbox 360)

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? You've studied the battlefield, marked your targets, and in one explosive pass the enemy convoy you just engaged is reduced to a pile of ash. Air Assault is filled with these moments, and since simply...

Apache: Air Assault Review

For helicopter newbies and veteran pilots alike.

Helicopter combat done right, a decent sense of realism

Not a lot of variety in the gameplay, no real cohesion

The game isnÂ't bad but it does have a very narrow focus on Apache helicopter combat. As long as the idea of a game that doesnÂ't deviate from that gameplay doesnÂ't throw you off, the distinctly different modes of play make the game accessible and...

Apache: Air Assault Review for the XBOX360

Fly it like you stole it.

Challenging realistic difficulty; Go nuts in Free Flight mode; Fun MP co-op missions

which is missing more game modes; Mediocre graphics; A neglected storyline; Inadequate checkpoints; Low replay value

Apache: Air Assault Review (Xbox 360)

The game is set across fourteen different levels that focus on different conflicts around the world. From dealing with pirates off the African coast, to drug lords in South America and over to the snowy mountains of Central Asia, the locales are varied...

You have a limited number of Hydra and Hellfire Missiles, though on Realistic and Training difficulties they'll reload automatically after a set period of time. The Hydra missiles return in a few short seconds while the other weaponry can take several...

Games review - Apache: Air Assault attacks

A combat flight simulator might not seem like an obvious Christmas hit but this latest from the makers of IL-2 Sturmovik has plenty to offer the committed.

An excellent mix of arcade and simulation style action, which demands some unusual tactics. Lots of extra modes and strong co-op support

Only 16 campaign missions. Very little plot and understandably basic presentation. Graphics are underdetailed at low altitude

Helicopter sims may be a niche interest but after IL-2 Sturmovik this is the best flight simulation available on current consoles.

Apache Air Assault Xbox 360 Review

Turning up on the shelves to relatively minimal fanfare, Apache: Air Assault has helped me learn one thing. I was never cut out to be a helicopter pilot, especially of an aircraft so hell bent on destruction.

Good fun for blowing stuff up ; Detailed helicopters ; Explosions

Missions are too samey ; Controls can be frustrating

Awesome for PC simmers looking for a good console sim.

This game stands above the rest for the hardcore simmer. Yet is easily manageable for regular gamers with a little practice. The only other console sim that comes close is Over G 6. I can't stand the arcadic style that are out there such as AC 6, HAWX,...

Controllability of helicopter is very good considering that this is not a PC platform. The weapons systems aren't complicated but not simple. It allows for user customization on how to engage a target

The mission objectives are not extremely clear. I would not call gameplay mundane but it does become repetitive over time

Looks promissing, sucks you in, spits you out

Personally I've been waiting for this game for years ... at least i thought so. It's indeed fun to watch tanks getting hit by Hellfires while you're head rotates in the beautyful, detailed cockpit or blasting infantry in the FLIR with the 30mm cannon...

Beginners friendly, action packed gameplay, great visuals and sound, 3 completly different enviroments, nice variety of missions, complex but easy to learn controlls

some really frustrating/unbalanced missions, mostly useless AI gunner, gameplay gets redundant pretty fast
