Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Just call it the anti-Crysis. If Crytek's immersive next-gen messiah is suppose to usher in a revolutionary era of open-ended shooters, Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 shows us why linear missions and wholly scripted gameplay aren't ready to be replaced...

Gritty war drama full of scripted spectacle and superb storytelling. Multiplayer's even better

Linear and short. Pushover AI hinders the immersion

From the American camp, we played as Sergeant Paul Jackson, keeping the peace in the Middle East after a recent uprising by the fundamentalist leader Al-Asad. Jackson's missions showcased the game's grand sense of scope and impressive attention to...

We Got Game

There are some portions of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that will really make you forget you're playing a video game. By this, we mean that it's a truly immersive and believable experience. From the visuals to the sound effects to the inclusion of...

Very realistic visuals and audio. Lots of real-life military gear and weaponry. Multi-player customization

Single player campaign could have been longer

A worthy purchase for any lover of first-person shooters. A fully immersive experience in single- and multi-player modes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

First and foremost, the reasons I bought this game was because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ended with a bit of a cliffhanger for me. Secondly, half of the mission got finished and Makarov still survived, which made me want to play this installment...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperative, and single-player shooting in the business.

Climactic campaign ; Lots of varied and challenging Spec Ops action ; Exciting and entertaining competitive multiplayer ; Spec Ops profile spreads the satisfaction of leveling up

Multiplayer sticks closely to familiar formula

These tweaks alter the flow of rewards into your arsenal and onto the battlefield, but Modern Warfare 3 doesn't take any chances with the tried-and-true formula. You can make your own eccentric tweaks to the action with the robust Private Match...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Defiance Review

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance is a competent though flawed handheld shooter.

Multiplayer is good fun, with rewarding progression ; Level design suits the small scale ; Touch-screen functions work well in conjunction with button controls

Stylus aiming controls have issues ; Poor checkpoint placement ; Occasional bugs

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Though the engine is beginning to show its age, Modern Warfare 3 sports an impressive amount of polish in both in visuals and its sound. Regardless of the few hiccups along the way, Modern Warfare 3's slick presentation does its job.

The trainer also gives you access to options like super speed and jump, which allows you to speed past some of the game's tougher sections if you feel like it.

Blockbuster single player experience ; Refined, more accessible multiplayer ; New modes for co-op and vs play ; Elite is a valuable addition

Monster closets ; Matchmaking favors speed over skill level

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
