Crackdown (Xbox 360)

Sometime after the release of Grand Theft Auto III, the popular term used in the game industry to describe open-world, mission-based games became "sandbox." It's kind of a dopey term, but it makes sense and properly conveys the sense of freedom that...

It's hard to figure out what causes us to be addicted to certain games. Whether it's obtaining every single coin in a specific level of Mario or the idea of...

Incredibly Addictive ; Great Level Design ; Co-Op Is A Blast ; Gorgeous Landscapes ; Great Explosions

Storyline Is Null ; Dialogue Is Lacking

Crackdown 2 DLC: Premium Deluge Pack

Since the release of Crackdown 2 in July 2010, there has been a mixed reception from critics and players alike. Some loved the sandbox environment and war torn look of the cities given to it by Ruffian in their rushed six month release schedule. ...

Crackdown 2

When playing the original Crackdown back in early 2007, I recall wondering how incredible the game could have been with a proper story and mission system behind the vastly entertaining, bustling sandbox of a world that was Pacific City. Fast forward...

It's been two years since players took up the reins and cleaned the streets of crime in Crackdown and our return to the sweeping highways and towering edifices of Pacific City couldn't be better timed. The pristine and beautiful city of the future left...

Crackdown 2 (Xbox 360) Review

Is the highly anticipated follow-up to the original surprise hit worth returning to Pacific City for? Well, in short, no.

Large open world to explore ; Around 1,000 things to collect in all ; Four player co-op is fun

Very simplistic story that they don't really explore ; Multiplayer combat is forgettable ; Nearly identical to the original Crackdown ; Has no worthwhile purpose

Crackdown 2

Three years ago, Crackdown landed on the 360 amid a ton of hype largely due to it also containing a Halo 3 beta code. Once that thrill wore off, people discovered that Crackdown was actually a great game in its own right. It placed you in the roll of a...

Crackdown 2 is a tough game to score because while it has a lot of flaws, it is very fun. I can see the Xbox Live-only stuff giving people months of enjoyment out of it, but unfortunately, the limited campaign mode relegates this to rental-only status...

Crackdown 2

While cynics initially credited the fact that the Halo 3 beta was included with the original Crackdown as the reason for the number of units it moved, no one could have predicted the levels of cult-classic fondness that gamers would later develop for...

Crackdown 2 is Crackdown with 4 player co-op, a dull new color palette, and a glide suit that doesn't glide very well.

Crackdown 2 Review [Xbox 360]

There's something reassuringly familiar about Crackdown 2. Pacific City might be a very different place to the sandbox world we cleaned up four years ago, but the old landmarks remain, continually hinting at former glories. It feels good to be back.

Amazing recreation of Pacific City ; Plenty of orbs to collect ; New drop-in multiplayer

Dodgy target lock-on ; Bad collision detection when climbing ; Short, unimagintive story

It's good to be back in Pacific City, but a handful of niggling bugs and a lack of imagination take the shine off the Agent's return.
