Crysis 3 (Xbox 360) Review

Is this a crisis worth worrying about or another game in the FPS world.

Crysis 3

Ever since 2007, Crytek has been wowing gamers with its technical prowess in the Crysis franchise. Generally held aloft as this generation's delectable slice of eye candy, it's a franchise that's effectively carried itself on visuals alone. The...

Crytek has crafted a great game with Crysis 3, one that has a satisfying end for the trilogy, but its lack of breathtaking set-pieces means that it’s an even more soulless version of Crysis 2.

Long live Laurence Barnes.

One-two punch of art direction and technical wizardry; Surprisingly memorable characters...; Levels offer more freedom than Crysis 2's, while maintaining streamlined focus; Elegant control scheme and UI make accessing abilities a breeze; Huge array of...

in a silly sci-fi story; ...but a little TOO badass

I believe I will, Laurence, and I don't think I'll be the only one either.

Crysis 3 Review

The final Crysis installment of this generation arrives.

Crytek has always managed to work wonders with the basic "alien-shooting FPS" template, and Crysis 3 is no exception. Years from now, Crysis 3 will serve as a fond memory of what video games were capable of in 2013, technologically and, to a lesser...

Crysis 3 Review

Crysis 3 seems like has come along outrageously quickly, but it has, in fact, been virtually 2 full years since the last game. What have Crytek brought [...]

It would be rude to say that "Crysis 3" is ‘all show, and no go.’ It’s not far off though. Even on the 360, this is a staggeringly beautiful game, with delicious artwork and design throughout. However, the gameplay tweaks seem pointless, the combat is...

Crysis 3 Review

Crysis 3 comes so close to greatness that it’s a tragedy that it didn’t make it. If the next game focuses a little more on mood-setting moments where the player – gasp – has no way to kill anything at all, then it’ll be the perfect sci-fi...

More eye candy than a lolly shop housed in an optometrist; Excellent AI, and that includes friendlies; First half allows both stealth and combat approaches; A beautiful, rich world dripping with authentic touches

The pacing of the second half becomes a bit monotonous in its unwavering ferocity; A little more enemy variety would be nice

Crysis 3 review – technical demonstration

It has some of the best graphics ever seen in a video game, but is that – or the excellent multiplayer - enough to make Crysis 3 a winner?

Superb graphics are amongst the best of the generation. The nanosuit is still an interesting idea and the bow is great. Multiplayer mode is hugely entertaining

Bland set pieces and unremarkable weapons and enemies. Uneven artificial intelligence, and unbalanced difficulty. Story and characters make zero impact

The excellent multiplayer deserves to be the focus here, rather than the repetitive, humourless, and largely artless first person shooting of the single-player campaign.

Crysis 3 review: An enjoyable shooter elevated by staggering visuals

The best-looking game of all time ; Refreshingly open levels ; Surprisingly good multiplayer

Only millionaires will max it out ; A lack of new ideas ; Single-player lasts 5-6 hours

Crysis 3- Xbox 360

By Ryan Foster and Vince Deshaies The first person shooter genre is riddled with the good, the bad, and the awful. Franchises like Call of Duty and Halo dominate sales because overall, they excel at their own identity. Many have tried to copy them, but...

Visuals can be stunning ; The bow is a nice addition ; Hunter Mode in multiplayer is fun ; Hacking turrets from a distance is a blast ; Nanosuit abilities add variety to the gameplay

But they remove any sort of challenge ; Vehicle sections are poorly implemented ; Story and characters could use some work ; Enemy AI is unforgivable ; Too many unnecessary elements ; Campaign is extremely short

Crysis 3 tries to have its own identity, and while it doesn’t completely fail in that department, it certainly feels extremely familiar if you’ve played your share of shooters this generation. The sometimes stunning visuals, fun gameplay options, and...
