Review: Dead Block (360/PS3)

This tower defense title boasts a charming atmosphere and some novel ideas, but repetitive, monotonous gameplay makes Dead Block shamble on like its undead antagonists.

Unique third-person tower defense gameplay; solid game presentation; charming atmosphere

Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive; no online multiplayer

Dead Block

Not as many levels as expected ; Mish-mash of game ideas doesn't quite work ; No online multiplayer

Dead Block Review

The only thing more brain-numbing than an actual zombie virus.

An original take on tower defense, The one rockabilly song they loop at the end of every level

Laborious resource collection, Monotonous objective system, No online co-op

Dead Block Review

Enjoyable array of booby traps

Majority of gameplay consists of the same repetitive actions ; When you are doing great, it's boring ; When you are doing poorly, it's frustrating ; Timing-based minigames hampered by delay

The 10 levels of the campaign can also be played cooperatively with up to three local players, and having other humans on your team makes you much more efficient (the AI allies who intermittently join you on single-player levels only help out in...
