Dishonored is best described as a mixture of Elder Scrolls, Bioshock, Half-Life and Assassin's Creed. This is not knocking as unoriginal, this is the video game equivalent of musician Beck cribbing every musical genre he could get his hands on. Each...

Great atmosphere ; Multiple paths through levels makes it feel open despite the linear structure ; Great story

Forcing you to use your powers sparingly seems like a design mistake. It may be an attempt to reinforce the "morality" but it feels like there should have been more powers for incapacitating rather than killing enemies

What makes new IP so exciting is the original nature of stories, Dishonored takes a lot from other games but creates something wholly original. It doesn't seem like this will be another entry on the annual release schedule, and I hope Arkane lives up...

In Dishonored, you take the role of Corvo Attano, the former bodyguard to the Empress. When she is killed and her daughter kidnapped, you must

Dishonored is a really great video game. I enjoyed the gameplay a lot and the story and world are interesting, if occasionally flawed. It’s certainly one of the more interesting games released this year and everyone should at least consider picking it up.

As Samuel the boatman motors me closer to the makeshift dock that serves our hideout at the Hound Pits Inn, I notice a crowd has gathered, eager to find out whether I was successful in my mission or not. It's not a large crowd because we're not a large...

Dishonored mixes the dystopic worlds of Rapture and City 17 with the assassination-for-a-cause gameplay of Hitman and Assassin’s Creed to create an experience that actually feels more original than it probably should have. Both the setting and the...

Bethesda's publishing record, outside of The Elder Scrolls, has been less than stellar. Being shown a new game featuring The Elder Scrolls VI title, up until now, not unfairly been met with hesitation - after all, this is the publishing wing that put...

These are minor complaints at most, though. Dishonored is a fantastic game, a richly detailed world that provides a unique atmosphere are engaging gameplay no matter your preference - be it blazing action or shadowy stealth, or any mix of the two. It’s...

There are men whose hearts are pure and find salvation in upholding justice for others while vanquishing evil, and then there are men whose hearts are blackened and poisoned by thoughts and actions of undermining those who would oppose their rise to...

Be my guest of honor.

Swift transition between action and stealth; ...and magic too; Challenging, even on easy; Arresting art direction; Level design supports plenty of options; Rich dialogue, great voice-acting

Some polishing issues; Ending is a tad brief

Innovation in video games is coveted by many but rarely achieved—Dishonored has this in spades. It may not be perfect, but what Arkane Studios accomplishes is astounding for a debut of an original IP. Its memorable characters, striking game world, and...

It's been a while since we've had a game experience that has truly enveloped us, wrapped us up into its little world and shaken us for the mere sake of presenting something new and wondrous. This week actually brings not one but two efforts that have...

You can use Possession and take control of anything from a guard to a rat (to sneak into buildings) to a walker that lets you smash over everything in your path; or you can use other abilities, like a wind gust, to throw off enemies. If you prefer...

Many people these days don't know the name “Looking Glass Studios”. Hell, even at their peak they weren't that famous, hence why they went under. Maybe you'd do better with the names “Irrational Games”, “Thief”, “Warren Spector”, “System Shock”, “Ken...

Despite my non-lethal stance rewiring a Tesla Coil-alike Arc Pylon and watching it fry City Watch guards to ashes was incredibly satisfying. I’d reload afterwards of course and just pull the plug out instead.
