Dynasty Warriors 6 Review

With the release of the first Dynasty Warriors built from the ground up for a next gen platform, Koei has answered their critics with an entirely new game.

Dynasty Warriors 6 looks poised to breathe new life into a franchise many had derided as stale, and incapable of innovation. While not every change has been positive, the series was in desperate need of a fresh start, and now, in its sixth major...

A Dynasty Warriors game like you've never seen before! Well, not really, but there are a few changes this time.

Better maps and more refined gameplay than before; lots of stages and characters to unlock; nice graphics

Gameplay is pretty much the same old thing; occasional pop-up; no online multiplayer

If you play games, chances are you at least know of Dynasty Warriors. Hell, there's a good chance you've owned one of the dozen+ iterations of the franchise. It's certainly created a stigma surrounding itself as a game that comes out like clockwork...

The best non-Gundam DW game yet. That being said, it's still not a large enough improvement to justify purchase over the much cheaper last-gen models you can probably get for less than $10 at this point.

It's fair to say that Koei's Dynasty Warriors series gets more coverage on Destructoid than possibly any other games media outlet. The fact is, I'm crazy about the games and I don't care who know...

Dynasty Warriors 6 Review (Xbox 360)

a series that has always seemed to stick by its tried-and-true formula—so if you're looking for some dramatic changes, your best bet is to keep on looking

game to date. The new game engine handles all of the onscreen action phenomenally, with no noticeable drop in frame rate regardless of how much is happening at once. Also, the motion capture for the heroes looks great, with characters gracefully going...

Decent hacking and slashing, but same as it ever was

Better character models ; Killing hundreds and hundreds of enemy footsoldiers ; Climbing ladders (Oh, joy!)

The simplified combat ; The chugging graphics engine ; The voice acting

The best thing to say about Dynasty Warriors 6 is that it's an easy way to kill quite a few hours, but that doesn't make it particularly good. In much the same way, many people will salivate thinking about a can of Pringles, but that doesn't mean the...

Dynasty Warriors 6 in one word: Gorgeous. Beautiful, dramatic scenes, motion-captured choreography from martial-artists, and detailed characters reward all gamers who use high definition receivers. The artistic talent poured into the latest installment...

If you like Japanese hack-and-slash games, this is a good one. From a visual perspective, arguably the best ever released for a next gen console. However, it is still ultimately a button masher, and the strategic additions are not yet significant...

REVIEW: Adrift on a sea of enemies

Improved graphics.; Great new Renbu system, skills system, and Free mode

No online cooperative play; too much pop-in; too repetitive

Doesn’t Lu Xun look like Maggie from the old TV show Northern Exposure?

Dynasty Warriors 6 review for the XBOX360

Confucius say, "Why you kill us?"

Renbu gauge

But features still lack importance; Occasional pop-out; Electric riffs in Ancient China?; No online mode

Above all, the absence of online play is inexcusable. In fact, Xbox Live functionality might have revolutionized the series. Imagine the possibilities: tag-team match-ups, online co-op play, leaderboards, and online rankings. But instead, only local...

Dynasty Warriors 8

Tecmo Koei's long-running hack-and-slash series returns as players once again experience the drama, violence, and political intrigue of the Wei, Wu, Shu, and Jin Kingdoms in Dynasty Warriors 8. Gamers can take control of more than 70 different characters,
