EA Sports Active 2

Fitness games are something that we?re still exploring the potential and capabilities of, especially after Wii Fit pioneered the genre. I like to consider myself a uniquely qualified person to review fitness games since I go to the gym regularly and...

EA Sports Active 2 stands as one of the better fitness games on the market and sets an example for future endeavors in this genre

A contender in every sense of the word. For a sport as popular as mixed martial arts it is hard to believe there has been only one real contender in...

Deep control scheme ; Great animation ; Online broadcast mode ; Robust career mode

Steep learning curve ; Roster feels empty

For a sport as popular as mixed martial arts it is hard to believe there has been only one real contender in the gaming space thus far. EA Sports is hoping to remedy that with their latest addition to the lineup simply title MMA. Developed by Tiburon...

Hey you, do you enjoy watching steroid-fuelled, almost naked, shaven-headed men violently rubbing against each other like it's the last days of the Roman Empire? If so, you're probably already acquainted with the wondrous face-smashing world of MMA,...

EA Sports MMA (PS3, 360) Review

EA enters the MMA market with a solid title that may eventually take the throne, but is still lacking in some departments.

Great online features ; Fun and unique submission systems ; Graphics are great ; Different rings and rules for fights

Roster may not be impressive to casual MMA fan ; Linear career mode ; Presentation is lacking in some degrees

EA took a huge step in the right direction with their first MMA title, and with some work it could be the perfect MMA game. The controls are great and the combat is fluid, but the career mode, while in-depth, can be repetitive and linear. The...

THQ locked down the UFC for their video game rights, but that didn’t deter EA from finally jumping aboard the fastest-growing bandwagon in America. With EA Sports MMA, the developer responsible for creating games about virtually every other sport on...

EA Sports MMA

With a slightly different take on the sport than THQ's UFC 2010, EA Sports MMA aims to impress, and it does, for the most part.

Presentation feels like the real deal; Career mode is satisfying and lengthy; Broadcasted tournaments are fun to play in and watch

Controls can take getting used to; AI is easy to beat

EA Sports: MMA Review for the XBOX360

Take this! And a bit of that! And some of this!

Control scheme encourages real MMA fighting; Easy to learn, difficult to master; Online integration like Live Broadcast; But you won't care because it plays so well

Uninventive single player career; Where are all the superstars

EA Sports MMA Review

A lot of folks accused us of being too nice to UFC Undisputed 2010 when it came out in May, since we did grant it a perfect score. But hey, when it comes to authenticity in an MMA-based sport, there was really nothing else that could come close. We...

The online functionality works extremely well, and we didn’t notice any lag during our sessions. A couple of mild disconnects here and there, but for all we know, those could’ve been quitters tired of being forced to tap out. Wimps! Presentation...

When you think about it, fighting is primarily about who has the most stamina. That's why Rocky could beat even the most formidable opponents, including Ivan Drago. Anyone who says that Rocky isn't real... well, fiddlesticks to you sir! Then again, MMA...

An excellent opening effort for a new franchise, EA Sports MMA has masses of potential to be yet another feather in EA's already feather stuffed cap. There's certainly room for improvement in future iterations, but we're excited to see where the series...

EA Sports MMA Review

Intuitive controls, a lengthy career mode, and impressive online options make this mixed martial arts game a serious contender.

Controls are intuitive and responsive ; Rewarding Career mode ; Good options for lag-free online play ; Fights force you to focus on defense as much as offense

Unconvincing AI opponents ; Camera gets a little crazy sometimes ; Load times are occasionally longer than fights ; Strikes don't always feel like they have much power behind them

If you play Career mode on the default difficulty setting (there are two more-difficult options that improve things somewhat), the AI opponents don't always put up much of a fight, particularly early on. You can win fights simply by spamming jabs over...
