F1 2010

The long drought is over. At long last, Sony has relinquished its choke hold on the Formula One auto racing license. Nothing is more depressing and irritating in any given market than a monopolist that refuses to utilize its exclusive control of a...

It's been too long since a decent Formula 1 racing game has been available on the PC and Xbox 360. Codemaster's first effort has a lot of things going for it, but there will be room for improvement for years to come. They seem to be on the right track!

F1 games of the past have largely been hit and miss. In the late ?90s, annual F1 games were sultry staples of the racing genre, but ever since Sony acquired the license there has been a steady decline in the quality and level of interest towards the...

Codemasters have done it again. Their racing pedigree has resulted in one of the best game adaptations the sport has seen in years.

Codemasters delivers a stellar updated Formula 1 racing simulator -- racing fans: eat your heart out.

With the impending arrival of Gran Turismo 5 later this year, it's very easy for people to overlook other racing games in the genre. Developer Codemasters begs to differ by releasing a new racing title that you can not ignore. With its high speed pace...

F1 2010 Review

F1 2010 is a good first attempt at bringing the wonder of Formula One to current-generation consoles.

Faithful re-creation of the sport ; Tracks and cars look excellent ; Long career modes will keep you coming back ; Highly customizable multiplayer

Poor onscreen HUD ; Lacks split-screen multiplayer

On the track, there is very little to complain about. The racing is fast and realistic, opponent AI is good on higher difficulties, and the way car handling changes as races wear on is impressive. Details such as the type of tyre you've opted to use...

Despite Lewis Hamilton making the F1 high-life out to be all about Pussycat Dolls, multi-million sponsorship deals and honours from our gracious Queen, the action on the track and in the pit lanes is a lot less glamorous. There, the drivers are more...

F1 2010 is the true F1 aficionado’s game, with plenty to tweak, tinker and perfect from in the pits to on the tracks. Therein lies the problem: that’s all that really exists in the game to make it worthwhile. There is nothing to tempt you to play on...

F1 2010 Xbox 360 Review

Many developers have tried to recreate the hectic but glamorous world of Formula One. Most of the past games don't really feel that complete and seem to be missing something. Now it's the turn of Codemasters to see if they can immerse you into the fast...

Long career mode ; Tracks and cars look life-like ; Flashbacks allowing you to retry a corner

No split-screen mulitplayer ; Poor HUD with no split times

It's been a while since a Formula One title last ripped around a HD track. It's fair to say we all needed the break. Under Sony's stewardship the genre had stagnated, culminating in 2007's F1 Championship Edition, an efficient yet ultimately pedestrian...

It's a shame because Codemasters are onto something with Live the life. If they can successfully build upon the feature in future iterations, lacing it in to the fabric of the game in a convincing way, rather than just bolting it on to the side, it...

If you had asked us ten years ago what the best racing game developed by Codemasters was, we'd be hard-pressed to say anything other than Micro Machines. But how things have changed, with Codies' keen eye for detail quickly bringing it to the head of...

Rewarding players through the sim modes may put off casual gamers, but fans of racing or Formula 1 games will be nothing short of impressed.
