Gears of War 2

When the Locust emerged from the ground on November 12th, 2006 to ravage the surface of the planet Sera, so too did Gears of War emerge as a mega franchise for the Xbox 360. Less than two years later, we're already being treated to a sequel. When Gears...

Bigger, better, more badass? Yes, yes, and hell yes! Gears of War 2 delivers on every one of its promises, combining a rich and intimate story, brutal, visceral combat, incredible graphics, outstanding audio design, a strong soundtrack, and a robust...

Gears of War 2

Now this is how you make a sequel! The wait is finally over; the sequel to one of the most successful Xbox 360 titles and winner of numerous Game of...

One of the best looking games ever ; Incredibly story ; Voice acting is top notch ; Multiplayer is the best Ive played in recent memory

End boss fight disappoints ; At times, partner AI is annoyingly dumb

Gears of War 2: Dark Corners

As usual practice, Epic Games continues to support their games months after releasing. The latest offering is the All Fronts Collection/Dark Corners DLC which adds a whopping amount of maps and a new deleted story chapter.

Overall, I found there were a great variety of maps included in Dark Corners and the All Fronts Collection is a mighty sweet combo pack. These 7 maps bring a new flavor to the Gears world of online play. Road to Ruin is not a strong chapter and it's...

Gears of War 2: Dark Corners review — decent DLC

The seven new maps include War Machine, a remake of the Gears 1 map; Allfathers Garden, a heavy-weapons battle at a COG landmark; Highway, a fight deep in the Locust Hollow; Memorial, a battle at the Tomb of the Unknowns; Nowhere, a firefight in an old...

7 great multiplayer maps ; Up to the Gears of War standard ; Includes single player content

Single player could be better ; A bit too expensive ($15) for what it is

Gears of War 2: All Fronts DLC

Gears of War 2 has been supported enormously by Epic Games and the community gives the game all the love it can take when it comes to playtime. The Gears platform has the same cult following as one would expect for titles like Halo or Call of Duty. So...

Gears of War 2

Gears of War 2's new environments, weapons, and multiplayer features round out an all-around superior action package.

All-new, great-looking environments ; New weapons, grenades, and melee attacks ; Excellent new multiplayer modes, especially Horde ; Drop-in co-op support with independent difficulty ; Same exciting Gears action you know and love

Fiddly controls in vehicular sections ; Too many unresolved plot strands

Gears of War 2

Epic's second installment in the Gears of war series has been hotly anticipated for a long time - in fact, since the first came out, since the ending of the first game left the door wide open for a sequel. The brand new combat system brought forth by...

Gameplay is very tight ; Horde mode is a joy to play ; Excellent Co-op mode

Story is painful to watch, as are characters ; Competitive online is in serious need of tweaking

Now, even with the serious third-act problems in the game’s script and the uninspired characters, this is still a very good game. After all, Gears 2 is, first and foremost, an action game. It’s raison d’etre is to amuse and entertain, the emphasis on...

Gears Of War 2 Video Game Review: A Broken COG

Let me preface today's review by saying, with a note of smug certainty, that I am NOT one of those gamers that thinks Cliffy B. is some kind of genius because he came up with Gears of War.  In fact, after playing Gears of War 2, today's game of note,...

Gears of War 2: Xbox 360 Review

Sequels to successful games often fail to live up to nostalgia, or are fundamentally worse then the previous iteration. This is undeniably not the case with Gears of War 2 which refines and improves every aspect.

Incredible graphics and environments ; Engaging single player experience ; Additions and improvements to gameplay ; Multiplayer modes and maps

Occasional frame rate drops or texture problems

Gears of War 2 is a remarkable game that has retained a core formula while improving and polishing these mechanics. A must buy of 2008 and displays qualities that will give the game longevity long past its release.

Gears of War 2

A sequel to last year's runaway smash, Gears of War 2 has the same no-neck soldiers battling alien hordes. Again. More of the same, yes, but the same old excellence.

Early on in Gears of War 2, you discover the human race is on the edge of extermination; the invading alien Locust are getting closer and closer to destroying humanity's last bastion of civilization, a besieged city called Jacinto. At this point you...
