Gears of War: Judgment

Gears of War: Judgment takes place 14 years before the events of Gears of War 1, and throws Baird and Cole into the spotlight, along with new cadet Sofia Hendrik and the gruff Garron Paduk as their sidekicks. Told via a series of flashbacks, Judgment...

Despite the almost fractured feeling that Gears of War: Judgment carries, it’s still a fine package and a must have for Gears fans. Two great campaigns, some innovative new modes and plenty of Locust stomping action. It’s just a shame Epic and PCF had...

Gears of War: Judgment Review

Gears of War is back and we couldn't be happier.

There are a ton of things that could have gone wrong with a prequel to a series like Gears of War. Judgment embraced these issues and delivered. I praised Gears of War 3 for all it accomplished and Judgment continues that level of excellence. There’s...

Gears of War: Judgment Review

Gears of War: Judgment is far from perfect and falls disappointingly short on the single-player front. But almost everything else about the game is well worth a look and goes a long way to showing that the Gears of War franchise still has the kind of...

Honed gameplay experience; Class-based multiplayer; New weapons are actually awesome; New multiplayer modes; Campaign pacing and level diversity; Declassified challenges; Smart Spawn System

Way too easy on Normal; Disjointed campaign experience; Lacklustre storyline; No differentiation between campaign characters; Sparsely populated multiplayer on launch; New grenade tagging system

Gears Of War: Judgment Review

With the current consoles continuing to live on against the odds, developers are trying to keep their franchises alive without starting too much new. Ho [...]

With lacklustre characters and a pretty much pointless story, I’m amazed that I had as much fun with "Gears Of War: Judgment" as I did. It’s testament to PCF’s tweaks that they just about inject enough new life into the gameplay, yet avoid twisting it...

Gears of War: Judgment

Another day, another prequel. Fourteen years before the original Gears of War Baird and Cole Train lead Kilo..

While originality was never something Gears of War aimed for, it knew what it wanted to do and did it very, very well. And it looked and sounded great doing it. Is that going to be enough to satisfy fans a fourth time round? Probably. And Judgment is...

Gears of War: Judgment review: As drum-tight as ever, if overly familiar

No mere expansion, Judgment

New weapons and enemies freshen things up ; Three new multiplayer modes ; Combat's as tight as ever

but it's the same Gears as ever ; The campaign feels compartmentalised ; Less essential than the last entries

Gears Of War: Judgment review – positive verdict

Does the world really need a Gears Of War prequel staring smartass Damon Baird? It does when it's as enjoyable as this new Xbox 360 spin-off.

Rock solid control mechanics and hugely satisfying combat that are enhanced by the new arcade style structure. Excellent range of multiplayer and co-op options

The core gameplay is the same as ever, and by now extremely familiar. Bland script and characters (although that’s actually an improvement for Baird)

A pleasingly worthwhile prequel that tweaks the structure and context of the campaign and multiplayer to the point where it seems surprisingly refreshing.

Gears of War Judgment- Xbox 360

With 3 installments over the course of this console cycle, Gears of War has established itself as the ultimate embodiment of third person shooters. Many have tried to replicate its winning formula, but few have managed to offer the same blend of...

Best co-op mode in the series ; Improved controls and mechanics ; OverRun mode provides an interesting twist to the Multiplayer mode ; Great replayability ; Good visuals

Light on content ; Mediocre level design ; Campaign doesn’t have the same sense of scale

Gears of War Judgment feels a bit like an excuse to provide the Xbox 360 with one last first-party game for what is likely to be its final year as Microsoft’s flagship game platform. Thankfully, People Can Fly has managed to craft a very interesting...
