Casual fans need not apply

Some great songs ; Awesome guitar solos ; Still rocks pretty hard

Crappy cover songs ; No bonus material ; No career mode

Guitar Hero Van Halen

I'm not going to lie to you, my expectations for Guitar Hero: Van Halen were extremely low. It's not just the fact that this is the sixth console "Hero" game this year and I have only a passing interest in the band. Instead I worried that the release...

This is not the game Van Halen fans have been waiting for. Not only does Activision's newest Guitar Hero game forget that Sammy Haggar and Gary Cherone were part of the band, but they also refuse to include any actual context or story to the music....

Guitar Hero: Van Halen

I want to say something original about Guitar hero: Van Halen, but have been having a hard time doing so. Perhaps it is that my skills as a game reviewer are taking a dip, or perhaps it is that the game itself is a case of too much too soon. So soon...

Van Halen songs are a natural fit for the franchise

Advances that the franchise has made are missing ; 60 for less than 50 songs ; Where are the rest of the band members ; Where's the rest of the band's set list

Guitar Hero: Van Halen should have been titled Guitar Hero: Van Halen: The Early Years: With Little Regard For History. Activision should have walked away when it became clear that Eddie Van Halen wouldn't allow the truth about the band to be showcased...

Guitar Hero: Van Halen Review

Jamie is, in fact, cryin'.

There is vintage Van Halen music to play

Everything else

In a world where The Beatles Rock Band exists, the paltry effort put into Guitar Hero: Van Halen is, quite simply, deplorable. If you're going to devote the time, money, and effort to developing a band-themed game in this franchise-then do it right....

Guitar Hero: Van Halen - Xbox 360

Everybody Wants Some... Thing Else.

Can't say I'm surprised. When Activision started giving this away for free, I figured it would be a mess

Guitar Hero: Van Halen- Xbox 360

As I type this, my area is being hammered by the worst winter storm in 13 years. What better way to warm things up around the old homestead than to rock out with Van Halen, one of the best live-performance bands of all time? In Guitar Hero: Van...

I was never a Van Halen fan, although I did like their music and Diamond Dave’s on-stage histrionics (replacing him with Sammy Hagar might’ve made them a better band, but they were not nearly as much fun to watch). But after twice playing through...

Like an aging rock star that didn't know when to quit.

Anybody that picked up Guitar Hero 5 shortly after release had the chance to snag Guitar Hero Van Halen for free through a promotion. They got what they paid for. For everybody else that might be looking to Guitar Hero Van Halen in stores, stay away....

Guitar Hero: Van Halen Preview

Activision salutes hair metal with its Van Halen-themed music fest.

Whether or not this is great news for Van Halen fans remains to be seen. Metallica was significantly better than last year's Aerosmith, so we have high hopes for this new Guitar Hero. We'll find out whether Activision delivered this August.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen

Here's the rub though: even though Guitar Hero: Van Halen uses an outdated engine, features only the first Van Halen era, and is released in a post-Beatles Rock Band world... the game remains fun. On a base level, unless a rhythm game is technically...

Guitar Hero: Van Halen Xbox 360 Review

Washed up and out of ideas, Van Halen may be the most accuracte Guitar Hero yet.

Plainly put, if you've played any other band-specific Guitar Hero games, you know what to expect, and that is a game that isn't as good as the others. With nothing really standing out from the game itself, even most of the music, it's hard to see why...
