Just Cause (Xbox 360)

Just Cause is able to justify its relative brevity and disrespect for physical law with some extremely visceral and often satisfying action.

Ever since Grand Theft Auto 3 hit it big, it seems everyone else has been aping the formula. Just get some gangsters, some violence, and maybe toss in a nonlinear sandbox world, and poof! Instant game! By now, virtually every game reviewer and an...

Mostly very nice-looking graphics ; Fantastic sound design ; Parachute and grappling hook are loads of fun ; Tropical locale makes for a nice break from the usual GTA-style game

Short main story ; A lack of things to do outside the main story ; A slew of graphical issues ; Unrealistic physics

Just Cause had potential to be a GTA-style game on par with the GTA series itself. Unfortunately, a short story mode and a lack of much else to do robs this game of its staying power. Definitely rent it, but don’t buy.

It seems the Grand Theft Auto checklist of features oozes into a variety of games these days. Just Cause happens to strongly carbon copy most of those features in its Latin American take on an open free-roaming world. Perhaps the strongest element of...

Conclusion:The main storyline is almost an afterthought as the entire affair only takes about six hours. The depth of the game is resultant from how much time you wish to spend doing boring side missions or hunting for little blue dots on the map. In...

Just Cause Review (Xbox 360)

written all over it

I really wanted to like Just Cause, but its many flaws and shortcomings did it in. It’s one of those situations where I felt the potential wasn’t close to being met—what looked like it was going to be a big sandbox of exciting jungle warfare quickly...

Grappling hooks, guns, parachutes and political righteousness - now mix and make your own fun

Go-go gadgets ; Unleashing stylish stunts ; Pretty sights

Rehashed GTA gameplay ; Repetitive music ; Lack of opportunities

Just Cause Review

I was under fire, and at first it seemed as if I wouldn't get out alive. With only a little health left I managed to hijack a car. Driving it as fast as it would go, there were loads of the Presidents men behind constantly shooting at me. If it carried...

Just Cause is severely let down by the disappointing gunplay however. Quite often it’s simply just a case of holding down the trigger while the auto targeting does all the work, it locks on as you fire and before you know it you’ve just killed 5...

Just Cause Preview

It seems like GTA-inspired sandbox titles are a dime a dozen recently on the Xbox 360. Just Cause comes to us following two solid titles, Saints Row and The Godfather, both of which had their own respective hooks. Saints Row had its customization and...

Potentially good game gone wrong.
