Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (Xbox 360)

Even the greatest role-playing games aren't necessarily known for their great combat. They're frequently praised for their ambitious worlds, their involving stories, and the element of choice. But when you talk about your favorite RPGs, it's not often...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

The sheer depth of modern RPGs never ceases to amaze me. The worlds that become our fantastical playgrounds are rich not only in the visual flair that modern technology provides, but also in the imagined history, philosophy, and theology created by...

With a game as expansive as this, technical issues are par for the course. I'm happy to report I only encountered a few texture pop-in issues, which seemed more prevalent during conversations depending on the angle the camera decided to take. If you...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

The world of Amalur is a large one, and there's plenty to do throughout its sprawling fields, mountains and dungeons -- but the whole thing feels remarkably bland and run of the mill more often than not.

I use this game as a break from serious RPG'ing, you know ... when I just want to run around and kill stuff.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning by newcomer 38 Studios doesn?t feel like a debut game. The pure confidence with which it presents itself is refreshing because it knows what kind of game it wants to be. While some might be tempted to write Amalur?off as...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Considering how popular the Elder Scrolls series has gotten, it's a marvel that they're virtually the only games that do what they do. There are open world games, and there are games with lots of quests, but there are very few games these days -...

Reckoning really raises a question of how much is too much content - on the one hand, it’s great to know that a full-priced game will last. On the other hand, if you get bored before seeing things through, what’s the point? Reckoning is a game that...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

When I first heard about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, it looked decent, and what I’d expect from something in the genre. I have to admit though, once I found out the lead designer from Morrowind and Oblivion, Ken Rolston, was the designer for it, I...

Ever since EA and Curt Schilling's 38 Studios revealed Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, I have been excited for the game. It looked like the blend of action based combat and RPG elements that...

Beautiful visuals ; Massive world ; Fantastic combat ; Lots of customization ; Wonderful story and lore ; Just a really well made game

Many side quests can be boring ; May be too much to do in the game

Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning

You might have played this sort of game before but this is a good excuse to play it again.

The brightly colored world of the Faelands is full of dangers and people who need your help, and there’s an enormous amount of content taking you through quest hubs around the map. There’s nothing groundbreaking about Reckoning, but fans of The Elder...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

What do you want from a game? Do you favour innovation and ambition over quality and craftsmanship? Or would you rather invest in games that play it safe instead of reaching for the stars and falling short? Think it over. Your opinion of Kingdoms of...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning offers fantastic combat, a decent story, intuitive menus and the occasional visual flourish. Yet it's almost entirely lacking in creativity.
